Don't think I've seen Veltman start at CB for us but he's definitely got some experience there.Webster is ok but Igor has a fair way to go. I reckon Weiffer would be a better bet as cover.

If you didn’t think he looked good in that first half there is no hope for you. The control and turn for the goal Minteh ended up spoiling is a case in point. He tired in the second half definitely but first half he was good.I have no idea what game you were watching.
Irritating that there are people still thinking like this. We're one game closer to never seeing Steele play for the club again.
Come on, he's rubbish. He started the game and we conceded 2. Of course we did, we always do with him in the team. He's not good enough on the pitch, so I don't want to see him play for the team again. I'm sure he's fine around the club, good influence and all that - which is very important in building a culture in the squad, but I don't want to see him play again. Every club has a happy second choice goalkeeper.Irritating that there are people still thinking like this.
How many other clubs have second string keepers who are actually happy to play second fiddle without itching for a move elsewhere? And how bad is he really given that he's been a major part of a squad over 3 or 4 years that has consistently been our best squad EVER?
Yes he makes mistakes and isn't a great shot stopper, but that's why he is second choice AND HAPPY TO BE SO. Plus you can bet your arse his attitude in training and around the club is absolutely spot on. This is no secret.
He's not rubbish. If he was, how come RDZ - responsible for our best ever finish - kept rotating him with Bart, now the Dutch number one? He was at fault for one goal yesterday, but he also kept out at least two one on ones.Come on, he's rubbish. He started the game and we conceded 2. I think Ramsdale is probably a good and apt comparison. He will be relegated the third time in his career at Southampton, because he's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. When he plays, the team concedes goals. Arteta replaced him, and Raya won the Golden Glove and Arsenal were much better defensively. Verbruggen replaces Steele and we're much better defensively. Using an Albion example, Michel Kuipers replacing Graeme Smith and then John Sullivan. A good goalkeeper makes a massive difference to the team and inevitably you stop conceding so many goals. If you have a bad goalkeeper it's very difficult to win games and that's why we didn't win many with Steele last season. He's not rubbish. And as for your last sentence - absolute bollocks. Unless of course you think Aaron Ramsdale thought "it's brilliant here at Arsenal as number two, that's why it makes perfect sense for me to move to title challengers, Southampton"
Didn't get one, sold out in the west. And with 45 mins before KO, 30 mins by the time I reached the front, the pies were cold. I thought those storage units were heated.I now know that i have no need to buy the new double cheeseburger.
Unpleasant.
Not sure that's a positive from last night. Aren't they both injured? At times that was a really tough watch. Some of the players were a very long way off it but we got the job done in the end. Positives:
- Adingra was excellent and deserves a start on Saturday
- Baleba was excellent again
- Weiffer changes the dynamic of the game
- managers changes did work despite my questioning of him.
- Thank good for Verbruggen. Steeles distribution was appalling, always putting teammates under pressure.
- Ferguson looked sharp in first half
- March and Gruda to give Minteh a rest. He was miles off it.
- Bloom sees we need another centre half
- we won!
- better players rested to return and more minutes for Estupinan
- Kadioglu looks a legend in the making .
Agree with all of that apart from webster. He was gash, as was igor. I suspect playing either of them with Dunk or PvH would get better performance but as a pair they were frighteningly bad. That is not an experiment that we should ever repeat again. All good shouts. I'd add Jack's performance. Liked Weiffer. I personally thought Webster was decent for a lot of the match.
Adingra can be frustrating but males things happen in a way that Minteh doesn't at the moment. His turn for the 3rd was a thing of beauty.
Minteh really needs time out and some sub appearances with the pressure off.
Thought Enciso came out better in the 2nd half. Maybe a rocket up his arse at half time.
Fergie definitely looking sharp and throwing himself about.
Pervis back and looking good in the 2nd half. Remember he's potentially one of the best full backs in the country.
Ferdigol
I continue to be impressed with Ayari. Will mostly be sub but is good in that hybrid 8/10 role.
fair enough ... I thought him and Webster combined pretty well defensively, though (particularly in the first half) and I liked Igor's coming forward with the ball, which he does less when alongside Dunk. All I saw from Igor was misplaced passes straight to the opposition which put us into trouble

and until that mental aberration at the end had looked ok coming out quickly to break up attacks.Irritating that there are people still thinking like this.

The second goal was clearly his fault, but other than that, I actually thought he had a good game, claimed everything, positioning was very good. Moder otherwise was culpable for the first, I do feel like a lot of people are sitting and waiting for Steele to make a mistake so they can tell everyone how crap he is, he's absolutely fine, and was fine in the first two games.Come on, he's rubbish. He played, we conceded two. That's why I don't want him in the team, because he's always going to be picking the ball out of his net. Luckily, we got away with it against Everton but every time Man Utd went forward they put the ball in his net - we were just lucky they can't time their runs. A bad goalkeeper undermines the ability of the team, and he's a bad goalkeeper at this level. The second goal was clearly his fault, but other than that, I actually thought he had a good game, claimed everything, positioning was very good. Nah you are wrong there it was after one minuteWasn't Wieffer the one who was written off by some 'experts' on here the other week after about five minutes on the pitch?
