[Football] Own a bit of nothing for just £29.99 a year

North of the border, it seems they have discovered a new way to get fans to pay for absolutely nothing. This (unless I am missing something) offers fans the chance to own a bit of nothing at all. For the princely sum of £29.99 you get to "own" (for 12 months anyway) a bit of the virtual pitch, not the real pitch mind, just a virtual representation of it.
You get an electronic certificate proving you own--well nothing

For the life of me I can not see any reason for buying this

I have vague memories of paying a fiver or a tenner for my name on an A2 piece of paper representing The Goldstone. (About a third of the way from the front, just left of the goal in the north stand).

You clearly didn't read very carefully as you missed this:

Through Sportli’s unique platform, fans can now purchase and own virtual sections of the pitch at The CalForth Construction Arena at Tannadice Park. Each virtual area represents a real-life segment of the stadium, offering fans a new way to connect with the club and their favourite players.

Might be fun if it could be used like a raffle or lottery. So owning the bit of turf from which Enciso used his foot-like-a-traction-engine against City won you a prize. Could be one moment per game. Not sure what moment it’d be for yesterday though.

How to sell you a worthless NFT without saying they're selling you a worthless NFT?

That's actually an awesome idea

Is an electronic certificate fungible? What if you print it? Does that mean the star my mum named after me isn't fungible? Or just my name? What about a name tag?

Actually, is my non existent share from DK and his book an NFT? I demand answers.

Me too.

I have a suspicion it was a scam.
And me too (paid, not think it was a scam).. back in 2002 that was... Forever Bury did actually collate all the actual names and what seats at some point.. they then morphed into Bury FC Supporters Society, but cant see any link to that seat/supporter list on website.

Not scam perhaps, but failure to deliver, with uncertain deployment of the cash.

Makes me think of my local student union in 1978, earnestly collecting money for the Sandinistas, then not knowing how to get the money to the Sandinistas.

So they spent it all on drugs.

West is BEST
Seems like the “buy a piece of the moon” type schemes.

You’d be better off printing out a picture of the pitch and writing your name on it. For free.

It means about as much as the club’s scheme.

It was £20, back in 2002:-

I honestly can't see much difference between what the Albion offered over 20 years ago, and what Dundee United are offering today.

By the way, Krispies is pictured in the programme I've linked to, on page 9.
