[Albion] Hürzeler's pre-Ipswich presser

Worth noting he played at RB on his debut for the England U21s. Perhaps it’s time we start thinking of Jack as primarily a fullback?
Someone did a Youtube video explaining how, after being targeted early on through balls to Saka, Hinshelwood was spoken to by Hurzeler and then started to take up an inverted central midfield position when we were in possession and how effective this was in allowing us to play through the Arsenal press. I think that FH wants full backs who can double up as midfielders.

Hinshelwood is still far too vulnerable in 1:1s and defensive duels to be considered a classic defensive full back (aka Joel Veltman). When he is left isolated I feel concerned. But as a modern full back (where he can invert into midfield) in a side who are likely to dominate the ball, I have far fewer concerns.

As it stands, if both are fit, I’d still be picking Veltman over Hinshelwood at right back.

For me, if all are fit, the best option will be Estupinan at LB, Ferdi at RB.
If Estupinan isn't fit, Ferdi at LB and Hinshelwood at RB, for the way I think Hürzeler wants his full backs to play, but Veltman is the better defender.
It might be good for Hinshelwood to learn the role at LB, but he should be the 3rd choice in that position.

This, 100%.

Against top 6 or top 9 type clubs you probably want Veltman in there with our current injuries and experience. However against 10 other sides you might be looking to attack a bit more and dominate higher up than Veltman would sit. Do Ipswich have a genius left winger we need to be scared of, or someone we want to push back and make work like a defender most of the time rather than a forward player?

Their best player is a left sided player, Leif Davis, but a left back who likes to get forward rather than a winger though.

I don't think that Davis is necessarily their best player. His attacking strengths were utilised very effectively by the tactics that McKenna used in the Championship & League One. He's excellent on the overlap and got a lot of assists last year, but he's a 24 year old playing his 4th EPL game. So far, his baptism of fire has seen him face Salah, Savinho & Traore. His heatmaps suggest that he's had to spend a lot of time in his own half. Hopefully, Minteh and Rutter will keep him as occupied in that area on Saturday.

I'm of the view that, on performances so far this season, if fit, Veltman should start. Our system can leave us a bit vulnerable defensively. He is our best left sided defender and he has played very well so far, providing invaluable experience and guile.

Their best attacking player is Omari Hutchinson.

I also really like Massimo Luongo - probably going to struggle a bit with the pace of the PL, but he's a lovely footballer.

Tariq been found out ?

Not for me, still a very good player. Just keeping him fit only issue

If fit and available all the time , he gets game time during the season

It's only as compared to how he was which is possibly the most exciting player I've ever seen for BHA in my life.

If was coming through now , there would be no issue

( 88 appearanes in prem aged 23 )
We're a much better team at different levels than we were then. At this level he's been found out yes, sadly.
His pace, at that lower level masked the fact that he was never ever a real prem right back. Love him but there it is

As it happens, Luongo has visited the Amex before, with Ipswich Town.....12 years ago!

He was on loan with the Tractor Boys from Spurs - he was a non-playing sub.

Lewis Dunk was also a non-playing sub that day (Tuesday October 2 2012).

Agree. He was even struggling against Crawley.
