 I also hear they have another trial going, giving the placard protestors the right of way of everyone.........they are naming it the great tit.

In answer to your main question, because the West Midlands is much more proactive and committed when it comes to road safety. I've covered a fair few stories about traffic and road improvements up there.

If it works, great. But the usual suspects will no doubt still complain, even if it's proven to reduce congestion and accidents/incidents and improve the experience for vulnerable road users :thumbsup:

Cycling needs to more regulated. Should be mandatory to wear safety helmet and high-vis jacket. Amazed at the amount of money spent on cycling lanes in Brighton. When I drive up to work through Crawley not a cycle lane in sight. Guy at work said the Council there use spare money for local sports and K2 leisure Centre, locals aren't interested in cycling. I wish Brighton would Council would do the same. Had to drive out to Shoreham one rainy morning last week and saw approx 2 cyclists using the seafront lanes. What a waste of money as it seems they drive their cars to work on a wet day.

I wish they would introduce a cycling licence for users of about £50 per person per annum and a visible number plate of the licence number to be attached to each cycle (similar to a motorbike). The licence would carry a mugshot photo and have to be produced when stopped by police or when an offender is caught on webcam breaking road laws. If you enforce it we could wipe out the Tory "finance blackhole" in about a year. :ROFLMAO:

So are you backing priority for cyclists over motorists because they are more vulnerable on roads? I am no fan of cyclists but neither am I a fan of some of the inconsiderate shit arrogant angry driving I see every day.

Probably the biggest failure of the Green councils in Brighton is to simultaneously make non-cyclists think they were obsessed with helping cyclists and punishing motorists, yet at the same time building close to f*** all useful cycling infrastructure.

It's not really a commuter route though is it? Most people in Brighton and Hove don't both live and work near the seafront.

I'm backing anything that makes roads safer for ALL users, less congested and a more pleasant place to be. You'll never change the human nature of cyclists that are anti-car (or van) or drivers who are anti-cyclist. But anything the authorities can do to keep people calmer on the road has got to be a good thing, right?

AI should be used simply to calculate the best timings of traffic lights to reduce congestion optimally. It shouldn't be used to prioritise certain types of vehicle.

K2 Sports centre came about by selling off the old Leisure centre site for housing development, and used part of Thomas Bennet School playing fields to build the K2 sports centre on, and a new school building to replace the old one for Thomas Bennet.
Crawley has cycle lanes, people cycle.
