[Other Sport] The Albion - setting standards in other sports too

Been at a meeting to discuss Sussex Girls rugby. There was, needless to say, quite a bit of chat about the forthcoming World Cup matches at the Amex and the Albion were presented as a shining example of how to organise things. From what I can gather, much of the planning for the tournament is a bit rough and ready but the Albion are absolutely on top of everything: from fan organisation to catering. There was even mention of how they have transport sorted (which will raise a hollow laugh among some here).

We often pinch ourselves about how well run the football club is but it's interesting to hear that those efficiencies stretch outside football. I can't wait for the matches at the Amex, I'm sure they'll be brilliantly managed.

Could they get on top of catering at football matches too please?

As it is taking place from 22 August to 27 September, your fears are not unfounded

Tell that to the Japanese fans who continue to make a pilgrimage to the Amex via the club shop 9 years on from their victory over South Africa.

Good publicity, promoting women's sport and money making opportunities aside, you just might be on the wrong side of history here.

Anything? Really? And it only has to be "potentially" damaging?
Cos some people might think that being relentlessly negative about the club and its players is "potentially detrimental to the Albion".

Not me of course, but some people. Them, over there.

Going to be a couple of pool games isn't it? We've had three men's rugby games at The Amex in the past without affecting our wonderful flowing football.

The Amex pitch is built with drainage at the forefront. It didn't cut up at all against Man U this season which was played in a monsoon.

In short, it'll be fine.

Yes they are. The pitch will be fine. The ground staff are top of the game as well, they'll have the pitch prepped and repaired well in time for the following Albion fixture. Drama queens can clutch their pearls all they want, but it's irrelevant.

It's not an anti Japanese thing it's not an anti woman's thing. I'm anti anything that could harm our beautiful football.

*Although I'm slightly sceptical about level of interest in woman's rugby, I bet it doesn't have many followers or make much money.

Alright, but to be fair, the Amex pitch was clearly affected by the rugby matches played in the RWC.

Smaller forces exerted by the women, but it will clearly have some effect on the pitch

Yeah, this a massive boost to the club. There was competition to host these games and, from what I can gather, the Albion/Amex stood out. I gather that at least one of the teams will be hosted here and I know that there going to be coaching teams going into primary schools in the city to lead rugby sessions.

It's a win/win for the club and the city

I'd be very surprised if the England match at the Amex didn't sell out
