Is it fair to question the judgement of people who vote for politicians who espouse Racism, supporting rapist Trump, facist/.Nazi stuff

They're not all clued up as the chattering classes (you and I ).

As with Brexit, I'm not going to personally attack individual voters. I save my animosity for Farage and anyone who pushed it for personal financial gain on a major scale.

Awful.

I suppose the German government have to react to this sort of thing.

“A far-right party has won a regional election in Germany for the first time since the Second World War.”

Thankfully, we had a landslide in this country and the far right scum from reform get less than 1% of the MPs.
This landslide (in terms of MPs) was achieved from 33% of the vote, Reform were the 3rd largest party in terms of votes cast (14%). It is up to the Labour government to spend the next 5 years proving that their policies are far better than all of the guff spouted by Reform, rather than just dismissing them.

I assume that the idea of sending convicts to Estonia is because Australia is no longer viable.

In news that will doubtless shock everyone to their core, turns out it's bollocks and not actually remotely the same scheme at all

But don’t let the truth get in the way of a glib headline that @Is it PotG? has, yet and tiresomely again, failed to read beyond.

Processing asylum claims in 3rd countries. Isn't that exactly what UK were proposing?. Haven't read to much more on Germany but are they proposing to allow successful claimants back to Germany?

No. Then yes.

Under the German scheme, the claims would be processed in Rwanda and the successful ones returned to Germany. Under the UK scheme, they would be sent to Rwanda and left there. Effectively deportation.

They’re not really the same scheme at all other than they both use Rwanda as the third country.

Something Starmer never ruled out. I suspect there are proposals on this that will be presented to the PM soon. I can see it being rolled out.

A scheme not designed to gaslight voters (who think Rwanda is a deterrent to people who risk the lives of themselves and their families by crossing the channel on craft that can barely be catargoried as boats) whilst spaffing millions of tax payers pounds by flying a few dozen people to Rwanda for political point scoring. But a scheme designed to solve the problem that Brexit created. Asylum processing centres in countries such as France, Italy, Greece and Spain would really help to reduce the amount of people trying to do it by boat. Giving asylum seekers a proper process instead of declaring most asylum illegal in this country looks like a sensible option to me.

this German source seems to think the proposal is for deporation.

it's a reminder we're not the only country with this issue. interesting the accusation that Russia is not only letting them through but may even be encouraging the flight of people from some countries.

But as Rwanda isn't a "safe" country then both schemes are unsuitable

'Tough decisions are tough decisions....'

This Starmer really is on the case.

Keep warm all.
you are right, he's a great improvement on the previous shambles. as a patriot you must be in awe of a british prime minister with such a professional demeanour. keep watching as you will learn a lot about leadership and human relationships in general. enjoy the next ten years or so of competence

Would you prefer he’d said it in Latin with unkempt hair?

Nice to know that the decisions are being made in order to fix the situation as opposed to money being siphoned off to line the pockets of the Tory’s chums and relatives.

I have noticed that Kuenssberg has now had enough of Starmer blaming the Tories last 14 years of government on the state of the country.

o

She has generously given Labour a couple of months to fix the country but they have clearly failed. To keep herself and her style of populist questions relevant, it’s time to blame Starmer and Labour for the country’s problems from now on.
She must miss the psychodrama of the Tories internal battles and fights for individual power? I always got the impression that she quite fancied Johnson and enjoyed his personable and comical personality, perhaps deep down, she’s always wanted to be a Johnson muse?
