Dame Flora Robson stands head and shoulders above the rest. A lovely lady, serene and regal (which is somewhat ironic given she played so many queens during her long and illustrious career).

Also ended up at a party a few years ago with Greg Dyke, Iveta Lukosiute (strictly come dancing), John Stapleton and his wife Lynn Faulds-Wood. Discovered them by accidentally shoulder barging Lynn.

Not quite the same but I once tweeted on a post asking people to nominate great bass players.

I used to work for a famous St James's Street gentlemens club in London so quite a few of the toff kind.
This thread got me thinking and I recalled the following:
Whilst working at Gatwick in the early 80's, spent about an hour with Bo Derek and her husband John Derek. Also George Kennedy (Naked Gun ) was with them as they transited from LA to somewhere in Spain. All very pleasant.
Had chats with Oliver Reed on his way to Guernsey where he would rent a small hotel and have a good time for a week. Once turned up for a flight in dressing gown and PJ's, when I asked why the attire? he replied "Peter O Toole bet me 500 quid I wouldn't do it"
Richard Branson on the day of VA first flight. Then regularly ran into him around Holland Park where he lived when I was living in the area.
President Jimmy Carter whilst living in Georgia. He was a few tables down from me at a local restaurant after attending his grandsons High School graduation
Margret Thatcher at Downing Street after the 83 election.
Jeff Harding (Hi I'm Ed Winchester" in the Fast Show.) whilst working on a film as an extra at Pinewood.
Gwyneth Paltrow working on Sliding Doors. Teri Hatcher working on Tomorrow Never Dies. Both were very chatty and nice.
Jasper Carrot on a TV series. Very funny in real life.
One of the most interesting people I met was Bob Hoover who is recognized as probably one of the best pilots who ever lived https://nbaa.org/about/nbaa-history/remembering-bob-hoover

Shook hands and chatted to her late majesty Queen Elizabeth II at a function at Buck House. She was surprisingly knowledgable about the education system.
Had lunch with Princess Anne and chatted mainly about food choices, and living n the city against living in the countryside. Lunch with former MP Margaret Beckett spent talking about caravanning. Lunch with David Deane (former Arsenal director ) chatting football - he is a big fan of our Tony and Paul.
Met quite a few celebs - all through work - more than a few I didn’t like tbh.

18th birthday. Bunked off Bhasvic and went into town and as I was walking into Borderline Records one of my all time favourites Bobby Gillespie walks out. I give him a look of awe which he seems to read as recognition ( he may have been worse for wear) and shakes my hand with words along the lines of " alright mate, not seen you in a while, catch up soon" and wanders off.

Met him once in the Pitcher and Piano, it was quite obvious he had come out on his own for some attention, that aside he was very good with people asking questions and photos etc

Steve Van Zandt was a notable exception. Probably had a good 15 minutes chat with him, when he absolutely did not need to spend more than a minute with me. Lovely guy. Warm. Amusing. Humble. Totally comfortable in his own skin. The pleasure was all mine.
And Kelly Brook. My heart went pop on the spot. What a wonderful, happy soul she seemed to have. Plus… she’s gorgeous. Obviously.
