As a slight side note I've said it before but our countries obsession with putting a slogan on absolutely EVERYTHING drives me mad.
Personally I don’t have a problem in this area! Maybe I’m too woke. I’m longing to be arrested for inciting people to burn down an asylum seekers’ hotel. There is no free speech in this country any more , people are not allowed to think or say what they really think ,
Yet here we all are, speaking freely. There is no free speech in this country any more , people are not allowed to think or say what they really think ,
Sauce?I don’t actually believe the numbers. We aren’t getting that many arriving in the UK.

Do you not really think what you just said then? There is no free speech in this country any more , people are not allowed to think or say what they really think ,
Yeah but apart from that why did you stop.
Does this example count ?Can you provide some examples of people not being allowed to think something and how they are stopped from thinking it? If reading minds is a woke super power I need to up my organic muesli intake.
Also people can say whatever they like, they just have to be prepared for being socially ostracised if the majority find their views abhorrent, or legal consequences if they incite hatred or threaten peace. But that’s forever been the case and nothing new…sometimes like with the suffragettes society comes to their point of view over time and regrets the way it treated them. Sometimes like with Oswald Mosley it doesn’t.
Does this example count ?
Can you post proof of what he was arrested for?
This according to the Met
Anyway I guess it's a good thing that the Met don't have any more serious crime too investigate such as Burglary's , Muggings , assaults etc these daysSo there were posters involved too. You'll forgive me I find Twitter incredibly unuser friendly for following stories.
I'll have a better look later as the footy is on now.
Does seem very heavy handed, what was the conclusion, did they charge him with anything?Anyway I guess it's a good thing that the Met don't have any more serious crime too investigate such as Burglary's , Muggings , assaults etc these days
Thanks for getting back on topic.I think the problem was set many many years ago. Once you have a base for these opportunities in this country it is a lot easier for them to come and work and earn money in the black market. They have a network of friends and family that make it easier to come here so you can understand the demand.
It's part of the reason for the drive away from cash to electronic payment. If you're withdrawing cash from a cash machine, how often does that get used for legal activity now? Or does it go into the black market/illegal market/outside the hands of HMRC? I suspect it's quite a high percentage that never touches the books now.
I can't remember the numbers but we are giving a lot of money to France to control this so if they are openly admitting they can't why are we doing that still? There has to be a better use of the money.
The stretch of coast they are leaving from should be heavily monitored so I'm unclear how they are achieving this so easily, in so many numbers. It can't be that easy to drag a boat capable of holding 50-100 people in it without causing some fuss. Surely if they wanted to they could stop this or make a big dent in the numbers. Coming up to winter I fear there are going to be many more tragedies if they don't get a grip on it.
And how many are just coming across in cars/boats. Both times I went across the tunnel recently only random cars were properly searched. I could have had anyone in my boot.
I watched a video yesterday of French Police stabbing the dingyThanks for getting back on topic.
In fairness to the French, watching recent news on TV and press I think they are giving it a reasonable try. Quite a lot of police along their north coast. It is a long piece of coast and I understand it is getting longer as the police make it more difficult in the Dunkirk / Calais area. And I read that around Dunkirk the atmosphere is getting quite nasty as the police are becoming more aggressive towards to the people in the "camps" which has as a flow-down effect on everyone.
The number of people crossing in the boots of cars is going to be minimal; one or two stuffed in the boot is nothing compared with the hundred or so on a RIB.
This irks me immensely. For the millions we've given to them how hard can it be to have officers stationed on each accessible beach, there can't be that many. The decision that as soon as it's in the water it's off limits is crap, deep water absolutely but shin deep ?. Once the boats have launched then surely those left on the beach are the gangs so how come these aren't being rounded up wholesale. The whole thing stinks from a French perspective.I think the problem was set many many years ago. Would there have been any room with all that Chablis tucked away in there ?And how many are just coming across in cars/boats. Both times I went across the tunnel recently only random cars were properly searched. I could have had anyone in my boot.
Oh had 2 this year. Was just about to step on the pavement when 1 went flying past on an electric bike.Stopped using takeaway food delivery services after one of their employees tried to kill me last year
They may well stop the odd boat for the optics and to justify the payments received from UK taxpayers however what can possibly be gained by keeping people who's skills are surplus to requirements when they are desperately needed elsewhere .This irks me immensely.
