It’s posts like this that make NSC such a joy to read. I know these types of people, they’re easy to spot, they are still wearing face masks, they turn the tap off when they clean their teeth and are happy to pay the BBC licence fee.

They would definitely have taken their passport with them when they went to the Marseille game and absolutely not got on it down the Old Port. Hence the moaning about the coach trip to the match.

Priceless.
Indeed. Marseille is an edgy city at the best of times, but I can't understand travelling all the way there to hide in your hotel room. If you're going out in groups and singing football songs then yes you need to have your wits about you, but that would be the same in many places in the world.

I turn the tap off when I clean my teeth though.

Interesting reply to my post.
The club advised us not to go to certain areas of Marseille. We stayed at the Ibis next to the railway station, along with maybe 30 others. A group of young lads (not hooligans) did venture out the night before but soon returned, having been scared by the scooter boys checking there movement. Something that we heard from others on the square match day.
I do not wear a mask, I turn the tap down slightly but do have a TV licence. Unsure of my passport, but if the club said take it then I took it, but I think they said ID which meant my driving licence.
As for the report
Olympique de Marseille – Supporters enjoyed the city and benefitted from thorough information provided by the French police pre-event. The main issue was at the end of the game when the away supporters were made to leave their seats and then “kettled” on the stairway for a long time. It was queried why they couldn’t have remained in their seats until they were allowed to leave with access to facilities and refreshments. This was confirmed by the DFO. French police were rude. The coach transport to and from the venue was lengthy and caused some dissatisfaction amongst fans.
(Brighton and Hove Albion, Europa League 2023/24)

What's the saying? 'Tomorrows chip paper'. Nothing will change.

Regarding the tear gas and post match assistance. I need to mention again the staff in the kiosks handing out bottles of water to everyone.

Noted, I’m not having a malicious dig, but it did make me laugh out loud this morning.

I know the advice from the club on the Europa League fixtures, it was subject to debate on here, so not worth re-heating till hopefully they issue more next year!

Suffice to say though I’m not as conformist……..probably something to do with Steven Patrick Morrissey.

If I had a cold and had to go out where people would be I’d wear a mask so not to spread it - is that so bad?

You like paying more to water companies?
I would rather they were nationalised, however turning the tap off when brushing your teeth won’t make much difference especially if the garden sprinklers are working every day in the summer months.

It’s the price to pay for a lovely verdant garden.

Better to not go out at all isnt it?

If you had a genuine cold you would be coughing, sneezing and constantly blowing your schnozer so a phlegm soaked face mask isn’t going to stop the spread is it. You would be better off putting on a deep sea divers helmet.

“I’m not a conformist” :lolol:

We know this, as you went to great lengths and numerous posts to tell us how edgy you are last October by not taking your passport out in Marseille with you. Rebel rebel!

Brave, brave @cunning fergus sauntering round the Old Port for a glass of rose sans passport. We should build a statue. You'd be forgiven for thinking the whole post was a ruse to have yet another crack at the BBC.

I've taken ID (Driving Licence) to away games since the change of our ticketing rules, despite going independently by train, because I don't really fancy all that money not to see the game and a ban plus loss of loyalty points. In that time I've been checked twice and had to pick up one set of tickets from an away ticket office. To be honest it is a PITA and very different from the old PotG days, but then I'm watching Joao Pedro battling Declan Rice or Ronaldo getting humilated rather than watching Stuart Munday huff and puff his way round Stockport.

Happy to pay my BBC licence fee. Better value than the Daily Mail and I get to own it meaning that it's not being used by people like Harmsworth and Murdoch to push their agenda. Just saying and derailing.
