2 dropped but...

I'd have taken a point before KO all day long. For all our possession dominance they had the better chances after the equaliser.

Eez complicated.

The Astral Planes, man...
After the equaliser we should have gone on to win it but everyone went for the glory instead of setting up a team-mate.
I seem to remember Pervis shooting over the bar instead of crossing for two or thee team-mates queueing up at the back post.
Then there was Ayari shooting at the keeper instead of an open goal.

Never mind, early days, 7 points out of 9 when I wasn't expecting any!

Based on 1st half, a point gained, given 2nd half dominance 2 points dropped.

Given the home fans believe they should beat teams like Brighton at home, a point gained.

Ā£56 gained

Would have been Ā£112 if we'd got a winner.

Far too complicated to explain but I would have taken that at the start of the match and been bloody delighted about 20 minutes in.

Before the game I thought a point would be a good result, still think it was a good result. Our goal had sweet f*** all to do with the sending off. What it did do was get us back to playing our normal game rather than whatever it was we were doing in the first half.

Well a bit disappointed that after going a man up that we couldnā€™t score past Arsenalā€™s low block, we had the chances to win that. A point at Arsenal is good though, theyā€™ll be top 4 or 5 for sure

I have seen us played off the park by 10 men in the past. Point gained
Yep first game against Leicester at the Amex , they were down to ten men before half time , we were 1-0 up at half time , second half Leicester were all over us with their ten men , we were lucky to get a draw

And in this game we were all over Arsenal and had a chance to beat them at their own ground. Would I take the point, yes of course, but we could have taken all three yesterday.

I think we missed a bit of an opportunity to turn over one of the ā€œbigā€ teams.

Iā€™m not disappointed though maybe just a little greedy.

A game that sticks in my mind was against Southampton at the Goldstone. I think Alan Ball was playing for them. They played us of the park with 10 men. Big eye opener to a young me! Think we got away with a draw but not sure about that. In hindsight Arsenal bottled it quelle surprise. :D

I've seen us played off the park by 9 men in the past.

Anyway, definitely a point gained. We were losing at one of the title challengers, and came away with something. That was a huge point for us.

I really wanted to win, expected us to lose but wanted 3 points - I can dream canā€™t I?

I do think we have some luck on our side, if egg head hadnā€™t of taken off Bruno I think manure might have scored and we might not have, if Rice rice baby hadnā€™t of (I still donā€™t really know what he did, yes I know he ā€œkickedā€ the ball away) got a red we would have lost yesterday, almost (maybe not but it seemed we were going to lose and I cashed out all my bets when we equalised and was right to do so)

Next up we have ipsdipswitch at home, we should win but they do have a tendency to score, wolves could be 3-1 or 1-3, forest, who knows?! If we got another 7 points from those that would be amazing.

I just hope we donā€™t need that ā€œluckā€ and can win decisively, Fab has a couple of weeks to nail down what has been missing.

We got battered in that first half and did well to keep it to one.

Got a bit of luck in Rice forgetting that heā€™s actually quite vital to how Arsenal play and doing one of the most bizarrely stupid things Iā€™ve seen on a football pitch but we really upped our game after that. Arsenal defended superbly and deserved a point in the end. Fair result and very much a point gained.

..,.you know what to do!

I still don't know the rules (I'd guessing there aren't any).

Is it based on what we expected before the game, or how well things could have gone?

If the game had been reversed (we were playing better, and 1 up, then a man sent off) we'd say it's 2 dropped. But since we were 1-1 with a man advantage, we can also think it's 2 dropped. So both teams can conclude it's 2 dropped depending on what point you start from.

Arsenal had two fantastic chances when they were down to 10 men. Our lack of pace at the back was brutally exposed. They shouldā€™ve finished them.

There should be a separate thread on this. I'm not sure the high line is a risk worth taking against a pacey opposition if we have no pace at the back. JPvH, for all his defensive brilliance, is not good at reacting to a ball over the top. His first thought is about positioning himself around where it might bounce, with no thought to what happens if he can't immediately clear it. I feel he'd be better just getting his skates on and in a position to defend.

The high line has always worked better when we've had a fit Lamptey or Estupinan playing.

Even they were down to ten men they created the best chances in the last twenty minutes. The saves from Havertz and Saka on another day see us lose that. Definitely a point gained.

Ayari's chance was better.
