I think he should've gone on loan to the championship in January to get regular football after his injury. Would've given him a better chance of being in our squad this season IMO.

Obviously injuries/lack of signing meant that was not possible.

So unless a late loan's arranged to somewhere like Belgium as per Alzate last summer, I guess Jakub will be in the squad. He's in the last year of his contract and I'm guessing won't play much. Wasn't in the squad on Tuesday. Was he available? Puzzling one if the reports of him being offered to Leicester were true. Kept as back up because Gilmour's gone and O'Riley's injured?

He is capable of doing a job. As others have said injured at the wrong time and we went up a level or 3. But seems a good bloke and is t a bad player at all.

For Moder, O' Riley getting injured is an opportunity. I believe he can be that player, but he has missed the best part of 2 years of football.
If he has the desire and puts the effort in, he can be big for us, but he has a bit of catching up to do.

Same applies to Cam Peupion and Ed Turns, both of whom I expected to move in the window - both are no longer U21s either, so I wonder what happens with them now.

Indeed. O’Riley is two years younger and has 42 career goals with 52 career assist. Moder has 26 career goals and 23 career assists with only 3 assists in the Premier League. They are similar heights though.

This is it for Moder now ,with the O’Riley injury.

He could form a formidable partnership with Baleba with a central partnership with height, strength and ball progression.

Always felt like his confidence has never recovered after his injury but no more excuses, we need him at the minute and he needs to step up

Great opportunity for Moder.

It could be that we keep him until at least January when ( maybe ) Gomez arrives and/or ( maybe ) O'Riley is back.

Moder might be two years older, but he's lost two years to injury - and I wonder how many more goals and assists he would have had playing for the only team in a league that could win every week because the opposition was so much weaker?

Indeed both Moder, Gilmour and even effing Dahoud would have a fat bag of goals and assists if they were playing in the Scottish league. Or Polish league for that matter.

After O'Riley was injured the club would have looked at options such as :

1 - Bring in a player on loan ( if suitable and affordable options were available at short notice ).

2 - Retain Gilmour ( if he wasn't too set on the Italian experience ).

3 - Keep Moder until January/next summer ( depending on what bids were in for him ).

4 - Look for a suitable free agent.

5 - and say "c'est la vie. Over to YOU, Ayari."

3, 4 and 5 are still on the table.

3 ( Moder ) with 5 ( Ayari ) looks for now most likely.

I think Moder’s value has dropped substantially since his awful injury.

Best case scenario now is for him to get some serious game time in the next 4 or 5 months or so raising his profile and value. So when we replace him with Gomez in January, we’ll get a reasonable fee rather than letting him leave on a free next June.

I can see him starting League Cup games and making many substitute appearances. I can’t see him getting many goals or assists but I can see good energy, passing and transitional play.

Today's squad suggests that he's behind Milner, Baleba and Ayari in the centre midfield roles and quite a few others in the more attacking roles. He'll only be getting an opportunity if we get more injuries.

Not even named in 20 man squad for midweek cup game vs Crawley shows where he is in the pecking order.
Unless he is injured?
