Two months ago Bozza and GB were both claiming to be ITK in two posts posted exactly after each other in the same thread. One of them claimed the ITK info said Solly March's rehab was going great and he could be back as early as October. The other said it was a 50/50 risk March would never play in the Premier League again. I was supposed to believe in both that things were going great and that there was a 50% chance of him never playing at this level again, or I was an idiot.

In this case with Billy, Bozza clearly doesn't rate the player from the beginning, spends some time arguing with me on whether he is good enough or not, and shortly after a medical is reported he says "I'm ITK and know the club don't want him".

But... what can I say? He's the boss and he's claiming to be ITK so anything I say is invalid.

Very, very strange and risky behaviour starting him this Saturday if the club was really that desperate to get rid off him. But good luck to him, will follow his adventures in Naples.
Its nothing to do with Bozza being the boss, he's just a supporter like the rest of us. He just let's the forum work without interferance and when ever i have spoken to him he comes over like a decnt bloke like a lot of the guys on here. But, after seeing various reports I think its pretty obvious what the club think of Billy and he may not be the best fit for what is required at this point. I personally think he's ok but lacks physicality but we all agree he's a great team guy.

Cheers Billy, good player in there, but not guaranteed minutes ahead of Wieffer and Gruda. Sad to lose him, but we all knew there would have to be some hard choices when thinning down the squad to manageable levels.

Expecting 2-3 more out in the next few hours.
Hope Gruda and Wieffer are not long term sicknotes. Club know what they are doing but I’d choose him over Milner over a season. Much better engine and passing ability imo and also less likely to be injured long term.

No point keeping a player that doesn’t want to be at the club. Billy was told he wouldn’t be automatic first choice in a midfield position and he wasn’t happy with that. Best solution to sell and get some money back rather than pay a wage or send out on loan and have to deal with the problem further down the line

Oh well.. I liked Billy, but Napoli are genuinely HUGE, Naples (if you stay away from the slightly earthier areas) absolutely stunning, he’s got a mate already in the squad… playing for a ‘demanding’ Italian madman is old hat to the wee one AND fundamentally he went out on a high putting in a great shift vs utd…

The money isn’t great, but do I blame Billy ? Not one bit… I wish him well, and if he leaves, we move on and he’ll have my respect for avoiding acting off like certain other bellends prior to manufacturing their ‘dream’ 💰 move.

All of this. Best of luck WBG

I think this is likely to be the players wishes. Napoli are a big team, he’s got another Scottish international there now, Italian football is likely to suit him. His time here hasn’t always been easy. He’s has off the pitch drama with his stalker. He might just fancy the move and a new start and us being us have allowed it to happen because it’s the players wishes and he’s been a model professional
Totally agree.
Done fantastic for us, especially dealing with the bad timing of manager change when he joined.
Good luck to the lad.

You are right to say he’s acted respectfully but fact remains he doesn’t want to be here and was not happy at being told he wouldn’t be automatically picked for a midfield spot this season

If that’s the case (and we don’t know it is) Given the injuries already, especially if Wieffer is still out, I wonder if telling him he’s not going to start might be a bit premature.

He was told this before the start of the season- pre Everton. And yes it’s from a reliable source. Moder will be cover for Gilmour now O Reilly is injured- nobody has mentioned that! He hasn’t gone out on loan or perm today

If the assumption is correct, then it shows the kind of professional he is… not happy just picking up his salary and not being a first pick… really - I’ve got no problem with that at all.

Secondary to this is the dream of playing for one of Italy’s biggest clubs, the home of Diego Maradona etc… shit, in spite of my love for this club, I’d probs be on the next flight out even if I was first pick… CL football for us would be unreal… potentially being there most seasons and even being competitive enough to win it??? Brighton really represents the lesser light in every respect, even though it’s very hard to admit it, it’s true.

We’ll be light, but we have to accept if we behave like a gentleman’s club, then it works both ways and if it’s done right… well, on occasion we have to let players go…

For me. Billy is worth £25m to £40m. 23 year old proven premier league quality central midfielder with years ahead of him. It will be a shame if he goes

Gruda has nothing to do with anything... I very much doubt it. To go from playing in roles where you take high risk-high reward decisions to a role where you must not lose the ball is a big shift.

We only play with one DMC in build up now. He has no buddy to bounce the ball of as in earlier years. His job is turn with the ball or, if its not possible, survive the press and find a full back who can play it behind to our MC/AMC in the space they left behind to follow Gilmour/Wieffer and stop them from turning.

He is then supposed to turn around, get into position and receive the backward pass from MC/AMC and make the decisive pass to the wing or striker.

(I will explain it in a video some day - we play some very clear patterns when building up)

To do this role you have to be top class at passing, relatively quick/nimble (preferably also strong), excellent technique in small spaces and excellent reading of the game. Milner can't do it, Baleba probably can't either, Hinshelwood and Ayari possibly... and Wieffer hopefully, but I haven't seen enough of him.

Nah... not happy with this one, not at all.

Yes, Moder is still a midfield option ( as of 21:09 ).

It is assumed he'll be sold this summer.... but maybe not ?

Hummels? If Eric Smith can do it at St Pauli…..
