We do seem a little light in terms of numbers on the coaching front. (In comparison to De Zerbi’s team)

Anyone know our actual first team management setup including coaches etc..
We've got Crofty as the clubs continuity coach, who seems to be doing a great job. If we are indeed light in coaches?

It should be FH that leads the coach he wants for his team imho, as he will live or die by his coaching teams performance.

Give him the U12s or something. Don’t need him near the first team

Yes, but there is no need for him as a coach for the first team.
He is decent bloke, knows the club and the town, if there is a role that suits him, I would be happy to have him employed by the club again.

I saw that video yesterday and was surprised to hear his name casually dropped into the conversation. Perhaps it is a tentative step towards reintegration, but given I don't think he's got any coaching badges, he'd have to start somewhere down the pecking order, perhaps working with Gordon Greer on working with the loan players or working with any remaining Spanish speakers we have.

Jonas Scheuermann & Andrew Crofts are assistant first team coaches

Jack Stern & Marco Knopp are goalkeeper coaches

Max Lesser is the tactical analyst.

ITK somewhat. Bruno was not on massive wages as a player. He was not guaranteed employment with the new regime (whoever they maybe). His family were settled in the area and he had personal and financial commitments.

His choice was be unemployed for a period of time or take a big pay rise. What would you do?

It would have to be an incredibly specific role to fit him so perfectly that no other Coach all over Europe had the required footballing knowledge, skills and personality for it. If of course you are talking about hiring someone for those reasons, rather than ‘because he uses to play for us and knows the city’. Because that is such a small-time way of thinking, and we are well past that stuff now, fortunately.
So you think Inigo Calderon is the best qualified U18s coach in Europe?

And Gary Dicker the best qualified U21s coach?

And Andrew Crofts the best qualified first team assistant?

And Gordon Greer, the best qualified person to arrange and oversee players' loan spells?

And Sam Baldock, the best qualified person to help Greer with that?

And Tomer Hemed, the best qualified *checks notes* 'mentor' to our academy players?

If we are indeed, 'past all that stuff' - finding opportunities for people, because they are popular former players - then all of those people having the absolutely best qualifications for those roles, is quite the coincidence.

He was baked into our contingency plans in the event of Potter leaving, the Club were gutted when him and the GK coach left as the expectation was that they would be available to help with the transition to a new manager. Instead he threw the v sign up at us leaving Crofts and Lallana to run the training sessions.

Nowhere near the club would be my preference.
Why? He left to go to Chelsea, unfortunately, but he was given a role. Had he stayed at Brighton the chances are/were that he would not have fitted into RDZ’s team and therefore be out of a job. Bruno did an awful lot for the Albion and the wider community whilst he was here and therefore has a lot of credit in the bank. Cut the bloke some slack.

Fair point.

My view is that if the club consider him worth employing then I am happy with that. Just don't expect the fan base to absolutely gush over his return (and I'm sure they wouldn't expect that anyway).

Still no guarantee of employment thereafter.

At least some of those may be the best qualified for our club. As in at least part of the hiring rationale is that they know the club, the area, the structure and what TB and PBOBE expect from employees.

That, of course, makes a case FOR Bruno. I have to say I'm not sure Bruno really fits into the first team at the moment for the reasons @Commander states. I think FH probably has the team around him that he needs. Of course, he may have asked to expand it and then I'd expect Bruno to be someone we consider.

Personally I understand why Bruno went to Chelsea. He was a club legend to all of us but club legends still have to look after and provide for their families. He's done his time and if we have a role his specific knowledge and skills would fill, we'd be daft to knock him back just because he took the job with Potter.

We'd be equally daft to simply crowbar him back into the club because his Chelsea money's about to run out (doesn't Potter stop getting paid around October by them?).

I’d either:

A) Stay in my current job and see what happened, knowing that whilst continuous employment wasn’t guaranteed, there would be uproar among the fans if I was booted out- that scenario was always going to be highly, highly unlikely. Much more likely is a role would have be found with the new regime and I could continue learning and developing and have a genuine shot at the manager’s job one day.

Or:

B) Taken the chance and gone to a bigger club but much worse working environment for more money, knowing I’d almost certainly be unemployed again within two years, but hopefully with enough experience to help me get my next job, and with a wad of cash in the bank.

Either is fine. But if I chose option B I would absolutely not expect the Albion to come and rescue me once it had all gone wrong.

All the ‘he couldn’t afford to be unemployed’ stuff-you can’t just sack people because you feel like it and not pay them anything! He would presumably have had his contract paid up, so wouldn’t have been on the breadline, and would have had time to find another job, or more likely gone to join Potter at Chelsea at that point. That would have been the smart move- pay off from the Albion and new job with massive pay rise at Chelsea, with all bridges still intact at Brighton.

Footballers aren’t exactly known for making smart moves though.

Cheered the goals because they helped the club although the man himself not really no. Murray has always shown he favoured Palace fans. Marseille at home the NS sang his song and he didn’t even glance in the direction of the Albion faithful.
Did I enjoy the Pritchard episode and Potter with his motley crew return with Chelsea hell yeah.
Where did you get this from?

............and sometimes you need to put your kids education, family happiness and your own career path ahead of the feelings of a few grumpy old sods on NSC. He did the right thing.

In retrospect he might of gone to the wrong club but chelsea were only a minor basket case back then and in comparison to how they operate now.

Don't agree with the Murray comments. Perhaps in the Marseille game he either didn't hear, or had an off day, people aren't machines. He is always enthusiastic about us on TV or Radio often saying 'we' when he should be more impartial perhaps. I blinkin love Murray and once told him that to my shame lol!

Regrettably, whilst this was crystal clear from the very beginning, the THICKOS still don't seem to accept it and consider Bruno to be a snake-in-the-grass for accepting an offer of employment from another company in the same industry when faced with redundancy*.

* (Strictly probably not technically a redundancy, but without access to paperwork we'll never know. Or particularly care.)
