Depite only being in the Premier League for just over 7 seasons, the SPLURGE in terms of player purchases this summer has taken the Club to 14th in the all time Premeir League list of player purchases, above the likes of Palace and The Leeds United.

It's a long way from Gary Hart for £1,000 and a set of tracksuits.

Rightly so.
We should be outspending smaller clubs like P***** and The Damned.

I think a “thank you” to Todd Boehly is in order?

Interesting. For all the talk of City's finanial cheating, looks like they didn't need to with some impressive selling going on. £50m for Sterling, they took advantage of Chelsea too.
I'm pretty sure (without having the time or interest to confirm it) that some of City's player sales could be regarded as questionable, in terms of selling players to other clubs with the same owner etc.

I'd also guess that the time period covered by the chart flatters them given it's the last 5 years and they'd already spent a fortune to become the best team in the country by then. In much the same way as these things always make newly promoted clubs look worse because they have nobody good to sell.
