A league cup game is a perfect introduction for a player, to get used to playing with his new teammates in a game that we should win, and won't cost us league points. We've played loads of teams below us in the leagues (and plenty above us when we were in the lower leagues), and they're just normal games of football. Williams is a ****. We were not to know Crawley would play like that.

Indeed.
Agreed. It's the sort of match that is a good introduction and he was fit to play too.

It's not often an injury makes headline news, but this has.

Shocking challenge. Shocking refereeing.

Has definitely +10ed me as a VAR supporter. Was a definite red.

Hope that it's nothing serious.

If that's true, it makes a mockery of Lindsey's apology.
His apology is utterly worthless. Anyone who’s played football knows that team were sent out to put it about and stick some reducers in. You could see it on their faces and the way they were ‘challenging’.

Disgraceful. Absolutely shameful scum bags.

I’m really fuckin angry about this. It’s the thing in football I hate the most. How dare anyone deliberately take out another player, a fellow professional, with the obvious risk they could seriously harm their career. ****s.

Seeing some of our fans suggesting the manager should have taken Williams. A bit of perspective needed.

Yes, it was a poor challenge, but it was a competitive game not a friendly.
That sir is total bollocks. He was nowhere near the ball and was coming in very late. That was premeditated.

If he hadn't meant it, he would have shown a bit of remorse, checked him out, made sure a fellow professional was okay. But no - a wink and a smile. Just having a laugh.

It was a reducer. Old school, but hardly the first time a lower league side has stooped to that kind of tactic. It won’t be the last either.

Every chance the manager may have instructed them to go in hard in their first challenge. He’s hardly going to take him off if he gets away with one.

Maybe you should let the Football League know that we can’t play anyone who might kick us in the next round. ???

When it happens, and the higher team have got the game done, they should bring on a player whose one job is to kill the opponents top player.

Crawley fans on the London train saying Williams is not the regular skipper and he was brought in solely to "reduce" our players. Which he did very effectively. Was playing non league two years ago (and tonight).

Looks like Albion fans have been on his wiki page. It states that he is a mixed martial artist.
Not true. Dion Conroy is club captain but has been out injured since pre season. When Dion is out, Jay is skipper. It was the same at the end of last season.
