I always thought I wouldn't be excited by an oasis reunion. The magic died a long time ago, what version of the band would actually play, it'll just be a bunch of middle aged men going through the motions.

But...

HOLY f*** I WAS WRONG!

I couldn't be more excited. *

*unless they come to Tokyo too.
There's a sporting chance you might get your wish as they are going to be announcing some dates 'outside Europe' in due course

Our kid has been banging out Oasis set lists live for years. Is the addition of a different backing band going to make much difference, albeit with the addition of NG.
Based on the clips I've seen (which I realise can be horribly misleading) I get the impression that Liam's band sound like shit, so it might be a significant improvement in that sense.

Having said that, I went to one of Noel's concerts a few years ago and on the Oasis numbers the crowd were so loud you couldn't hear Noel or much of anything else anyway. And that was on stuff like Little By Little, never mind their big songs.

I know Im in the minority but IMO a vastly overated band, had a few good songs, whiny nasal wannabees who hit the big time for some unknown reason.
I’m no fan but they had some banging tunes and they hit a zeitgeist in the 90’s.

Would be nice if they can stop these being resold on ticket resale websites. I can see a lot of people looking to make money on touting these tickets.

To be fair, they are encouraging Twickets, which is face value only, and Ticketmaster fan-to-fan. (I'm not sure if the latter is face value only)

Thanks for contributing.

Be sure to tell us what else you’re not interested in across threads on NSC.
i will do, as i was under the impression we were allowed to voice an opinion contrary to the prevalent one. I'm glad a lot of people will get to see them and hopefully have a great time, Im not disputing they had a few great songs, but Mike Flowers Pops did a better version of one of them

well maybe not better......

I'd much rather watch an evening of Taylor Swift than a couple of hours of Manc posturing and various re-hashes of the same song.
Don't think I can think of a band that has been so huge in these isles but failed to really cut it elsewhere.

i've heard Andy Burnham and some media correspondent call them the greatest ever UK guitar band. we're in full flow uber hype of Oasis for a year.

Have rocked up here expecting music snobbery and have found it.
Will never understand why people can’t accept that just because they don’t like certain music it must mean it’s rubbish.

I don’t like Prince at all, but clearly he’s not rubbish!

Oasis are not the greatest band ever, and I’m a Blur man anyway, but I’m hoping to relive a bit of Britpop next summer.

That says more about how huge they are here than it does how they're viewed elsewhere - lots of acts have been big in Britain but never really made it in America or other places.

I just flicked through their albums on Wikipedia and I'm actually surprised at how well most of their albums charted in the US, their last album hit number 5 on the Billboard 200 when the way people talk about them you'd think they'd all sunk without trace.

Oasis are the musical equivalent of Liverpool in the 80s and Man Utd in the 90s.
Their phenomenal success and popularity breeds jealousy in those that don’t support them leading to the pathetic snipes that appear on this thread.
