it looks hugely different, 2 weeks ago that whole concrete area was still below ground level with bare earth visable. There were holes in the ground and reinforcement cages showing. Now the foundation is complete-its above ground . To say it looks just the same is simply wrong. I think by the Ipswich game things will look very different
It's much more fun to slag off the construction industry and/or club though.

They've probably spent the last two weeks on their phones watching porn.

You jest but I worked for a construction company & they had to sack a site agent for exactly that reason except it was on the works laptop using their wifi.

It's easily underestimated the amount of work (and cost) it takes to get a building up to ground level. The foundations aren't simply digging a hole and chucking a bag of cement in it.

The moving of any existing utilities, depth and construction of the foundation to withstand the weight of the building. Placement of underground utilities for the new building such as water, gas , electricity, waste water, all need to be precisely located where they come up above ground (who wants the toilet in the middle of the food court tables?). Then tieing these in to existing pipes and cables. All inspected by Building Control to make sure it's up to regs. Only then can the concrete be poured.

Much closer to a 8 min job than a 5 mins one.

Well, I'm sort of joking. I've been up a scaffold on bridge inspections and heard one of the lads from the access contractor plaintively moaning "aww, I've run out of data" from down at ground level.

As long as they're paying attention when they put the scaffold up I'm not all that bothered what they watch.

Also, if the site agent's daft enough to use the work laptop and WiFi for that I'm not sure I'd trust him anyway. :lolol:

Brighton factually.....
I popped along to the club shop yesterday and I see the fan zone is nearly finished......
We must have the same contractors as them up the road....

You jest but here's a confession. In my very early teens I marveled at the Friday Ad adverts that blatantly advertised " free hardcore for collection '. I thought FFS, all that time as a kid rummaging in the hedgerows for discarded stashes and now here it was come and get it!
When i was a kid, at the bottom of Southwick Green under the railway bridge was Grange Press. They used to throw out porn mags and Brighton programmes into the skip outside. That was always worth a look through! 🙂

And which was more sensibly written and had the most believable content?

The official term for such material, usually discarded in a moment of post onanism self loathing, is The Bongo Bush

My mate used to work for them back in the 70’s. Yes free programmes

Platforms nearly done, just the track to lay and, hey presto! Our very own monorail station. Result!
There’s so much room up Lewes Road for a monorail. It’s crazy that we don’t yet have this. At this rate Shelbyville will have one before we do.
