You already have a season ticket. Why do you need another? Asking in the spirit of using my own experience to help.

To clarify a couple of points
There’s a limit on the number of season tickets available, a certain % of tickets (10% I think) have to be made available for home Matchday purchase.
Season tickets for 24/25 have sold out as the limit has been reached
There was / is a waiting list. This changed in the most recent summer as went down to Albion+ membership then a tiered approach based on how many games the A+ member had attended for 23/24 I know for a fact this started in double digits and went all the way down to attending one game, as I had to sweat getting my second son a season ticket next to us, who had only attended 1 home in 23/24 and waiting for 5 weeks to secure this specific seat.
I guess the OP will find out if the seat is on general sale or has a ST assigned at the next home game.
Advice would be to get the son a A+ member and attend as many home games as possible ensuring they are at the front of the queue of the seat is available in the summer

Suggest you either contact the club or check your spam folder. I've been an Albion + member for years and got my e-mail invite to buy a season ticket on April 29 this year.

Every year you can change seats so you have an opportunity to all sit together that being said I agree that people should be able to pass seats to their children if they have a season ticket
Why ?
There were a few gaps around yesterday where ST holders usually sit so maybe resold. Unlike your post

Why do i think they should be able to? Out of respect, I don’t imagine many STH’s die each year so the number it affects is minimal and shows a basic level of respect.
Don’t agree personally….if the recipient is that keen to attend games they should have one already

But there really is no such thing as a ST waiting list in practical terms. When STs become available they are offered to A+ members on a priority basis depending on how many home games they've attended that season.
So if you put your name on the 'list' but don't go to any home games by buying match day tickets, then you don't get offered one until everyone who is an A+ member and attended games, gets a chance to buy one.
As I said above, I got one for my daughter in March because she'd attended practically every home upto that point (and after). She was not on any list but the club contacted me offering her a priority access to a ST because of the number of games she'd attended.
So in real terms, there is no list because even if you are first on it m, but don't go to any home games, you won't be offered a ST until Joe at number 1127 has been offered a ticket because he's an A+ member and been to 10 home games

Yea that makes sense as it goes with my experience. Possibly there is this fabled waiting list but in reality it means bugger all because anyone who has been to a lot of home games, gets offered a ST based only on the number of games they've attended. Even if they are not on the supposed waiting list. I have first hand experience of it as said above, getting offered a ST without ever putting her on the list.

It was permitted for a couple of seasons recently. My family benefited when one of my kids went off to uni. That’s a fairly happy event. Honestly I find it a bit cruel a family can’t take over a seat when there’s a bereavement. Isn’t it just human decency and wouldn’t cost the club much. I have a horrible feeling it’s only that wanky seat ownership scheme that no normal fucker has ever taken up that stops the club from offering this basic decency
On the other hand, didn't Liverpool discover their STH's had an average age of about 115 when they checked a few years ago, because so many had been passed down over the years?

When I first became a member a few years ago to buy away tickets when I moved to Sheffield, I was put on the "wait list".
I was able to buy a season ticket the following season. Now maybe demand has skyrocketed in the last couple of years (genuinely, we've been playing well, I can see it might have grown), but I'm more than slightly dubious about the idea that there are really thousands of people kicking their heels waiting to get a season ticket.
It's also how you get a real problem with nobody being able to go to away matches.
I don't think Liverpool have any problems with cross-generational support. I'm pretty sure they've knocked the "still using your Grandad's ticket" thing on the head, anyway.
