I'm a bit confused about us at the moment, great results against poor sides but I don't think we're all that good yet.
I know what you mean, but I wouldn’t describe it as confused.

New young manager at the helm getting used to English football and a new squad. Us with players returning from long injuries and new players. The confusing thing would be if we simply hit the ground playing well.

As it is, we’re looking motivated, organised, hungry and a bit more clinical. Going to need some time before we fully see FH’s vision for how the team will play I think.

On paper there will be little difference between Brighton/Villa/Newcastle/West Ham squads.

Newcastle has the best single players, Brighton squad is more rounded.

Early days I know but from the snapshot we’ve seen thus far, I believe we are a little closer to having a top 4 squad than I initially thought.
We have good upgrades to come in at fullback once Pervis and Ferdi are fit and further strength to return to both the wings and in central and attacking midfield too.
I also think that we haven’t completely clicked in to gear yet either and thus there is more to come from those already fit.
Exciting season ahead…

Centre mid , centre back not quite enough strength in depth. If we can get lucky with injuries we have a chance.... A slim chance.

18-24 months away.

Europa League/Conference League positions are possible this season but top 4 is just too much, this is a young team and it will have bad runs of form.

I think this is a top four squad, but it’s a little underripe.

This is a learning/gelling season, we haven’t had any kind of poor run yet, and it’s how managers react in adversity that is where they earn their money. Get the new boys settled in as part of the squad, everyone singing from the same hymn sheet, and I personally believe we’re good to go.

I don’t agree that we’re short in centre-mid or central defence, though if Hummels were to come in at CB, that’s an undoubted upgrade in cover at CB. Who would you drop though? Our starting two are superb.

If Man city get a lumpy points deduction a run at the title is on imo.

We are not in top form yet with 8 new players to bed in and a few injured returning and yet we have more than held our own against a couple of "Big" teams.
