Of course you don’t have to create those things, that’s absurd.

It’s not exactly hard to wait for a bad storm in the Med though, and bad weather is normally forecast and people going out to sea would normally check the forecasts. Even if the forecast didn’t indicate it was as bad as it was, you’d expect it to see some kind of storm coming.
