[Albion] How close is this squad to being top 4?

We signed so many possible options for next season (currently on loan now or on their way soon) that European qualification is ‘planned for’.

0-3 against Everton was great. But the prospect of FH tuning this team once he has all the targets up to speed is mind-blowing. There are only two teams I really fear now. Arsenal and Citeh. The rest? Let’s have it!

With this squad and being at home to Man Utd tomorrow the only thing I fear is fear itself.

I am completely lost and have no idea of how many players we have now, who is off, who is staying, who is likely to play. So - I have absolutely no idea where we are likely to end up!

Webster plays well for us a lot more than he plays badly, injuries count against him, but when he’s fit he’s usually decent.

Igor only came in last season and seemed a reasonable defender as long as you didn’t put him in foot race situations. Plus playing with RDZs tactics meant a clean sheet was rarely on the cards. TBH I still don’t feel I’ve seen enough of him to have fully made up my mind.

It’s only his second season with us, I’d like to see how he looks now he’s acclimatised a bit, and is playing for a manager who wants to defend and attack. Jury’s out for me, but I haven’t written him off. The manager and the club will have their own views and that will determine what happens next.

Not impossible. Liverpool under new management, Chelsea a shadow of their former selves, Spurs inconsistent, United unconvincing, Villa with the Champions League to juggle. Newcastle could be good again, West Ham will be optimistic. Needs a lot of clubs to be off their game but one spot might be up for grabs.

Apparently language changes through persistent misuse, so if you can't literally beat them, you should consider joining them.

That is figuratively one of the ways that languages evolve. (I'm starting a Ukraine-style counterattack for "figuratively" to retake some of the linguistic territory that "literally" has vacated. I don't have high hopes.)

It's just a bit unfortunate when a word comes to mean both its original definition and its exact opposite, because then it literally means nothing at all.

We have a chance (albeit outside) which is amazing to think. FH is a winner. We will have to defend better but the forward pressing and having Weiffer in front is much more solid than WBG, Pascal or Baleba. A clean sheet last weekend was so important as were far too casual when winning last year and this fed into us never getting clean sheets.

I am so looking forward to the pundits who never consider us having to take note. The 'top 8' clubs bla bla bla. I hope they don't significantly strengthen in the next week...
