Right, a Hurzeler song, just need someone to get it started

Put a Hur after H
and put a Hur after U
a Hur after ler
and it’s away we go
Put a Hur after H
and put a Hur after U
A Zel after Hur
A ler after Zel
and you’re left with me

Hurzeler!!

OK. He was fantastic at the end of last season for Everton but so often his positioning can be a fault. I don't know how he can keep going mentally with relegation dog fights every season. Whenever he pulls on the England shirt he's Mister reliable and surprised a bigger club haven't come in for him - especially huge Spanish or Italian sides.

Because Spanish and Italian teams aren't stuck in the dark ages and play hoof ball. Pickford did twice as many more long balls than any other goalie in the Euros, 99.9999% of them immediately giving possession to the other team.

Plus he can't scream at his defenders in Spanish or Italian.

Apart from that, and a silly haircut, no reason.

Three observations
1/ "It's all gone quiet over there" Fate tempter especially when sung at 1-0 o.k. so it worked out well in the end but still a bit tinpot and done to death, not for me jeff
2/ "You've seen the albion now etc etc" hate it when sung to us, and even more when we sing it. Surely we are better than that.
3/ "BHA oh we love you, we're the sussex boys in the white and blue" great normally except yesterday we were not, they were the team in those colours!

The third point is so simply fixed with a simple tweak when we play in a changed strip e.g. for yesterday -
Brighton and hove albion
we love you so
we're the sussex boys
in black and yellow

we could even add a comedic and tongue in cheek second verse
and under each arm
a strip of white
it's a little bid odd
and doesn't look right

although maybe that is a step too far!
and before anyone says i am entirely negative i absolutely loved the ole passing chant that went on for so long that even our own fans were tiring of it! superb!

I reckon the Albion songbook is mainly terrible with a few worthy exceptions, the good ones being:

- Good Old Sussex by the Sea (but stop speeding-up!)
- Albion...Albion (simple but effective)
- Coz we all follow Brighton n' Hove Albion (to the tune of when Johnny comes marching home)
- Sea Sea Sea siders (simple but effective)
- Seagulls Seagulls (underused)

Most of the rest are codswallop, particularly:

- Walking down the Shoreham Road (really?)
- Hark now hear the Brighton sing (embarrassing)
- That John Paul Van Hecke song (best looking Dutch man I know... yuk!)

You're welcome...

How is Pickford really shite for Everton and yet he's great for England?

Hope he got a good ovation yesterday by Albion fans. Did all he could to win us the Euros.
I thanked him for giving us the ball back again. And he heard.

- Good Old Sussex by the Sea (but stop speeding-up!) - Its called Sussex By the Sea - Yes I agree needs to be slow but never going to happen
- Albion...Albion (simple but effective)
- Coz we all follow Brighton n' Hove Albion (to the tune of when Johnny comes marching home) - Its we all follow the Albion and last season it WAS over land and sea
- Sea Sea Sea siders (simple but effective)
- Seagulls Seagulls (underused) - Traditionally sung when we get a corner

Most of the rest are codswallop, particularly:

- Walking down the Shoreham Road (really?) - We used to and its OLD Shoreham Road
- Hark now hear the Brighton sing (embarrassing) - Why, its old skool
- That John Paul Van Hecke song (best looking Dutch man I know... yuk!) - That's the family stand version

Exactly.

It's a fun song to sing after a few beers but, as @Terry Butcher Tribute Act points out, the lyrics are a little daft given we've probably got enough Dutch players for Barber to be considering a themed 'Netherlands Day' at the Amex.

My comments in red on your incredibly insightful comments:

Good Old Sussex by the Sea (but stop speeding-up!) - Its called Sussex By the Sea - Yes I agree needs to be slow but never going to happen (I think you knew which song I meant)
- Albion...Albion (simple but effective)
- Coz we all follow Brighton n' Hove Albion (to the tune of when Johnny comes marching home) - Its we all follow the Albion and last season it WAS over land and sea (thanks so much but you are talking about a completely different song sung to the tune of Land of Hope and Glory)
- Sea Sea Sea siders (simple but effective) (so no criticism for this? Gee thanks)
- Seagulls Seagulls (underused) - Traditionally sung when we get a corner (no sh1t Sherlock, my point is that we hardly ever do these days)

Most of the rest are codswallop, particularly:

- Walking down the Shoreham Road (really?) - We used to and its OLD Shoreham Road (Yes again I think you knew the song I meant and I've always hated it since I first heard it at the Goldstone in 1977 "all the lads and lasses with smiles upon their faces" for Gods sake. This also speeds-up to 200mph)
- Hark now hear the Brighton sing (embarrassing) - Why, its old skool (because who amongst the morons who sing it are going to "fight for evermore because of Boxing Day"?)
- That John Paul Van Hecke song (best looking Dutch man I know... yuk!) - That's the family stand version  (oh please do share your rude version)

Brighton Aces is an amazing song, nicked from the Geordies I believe but great to belt it out.

Well it is a Geordie song called The Blaydon Races, but we will have to differ about it being "amazing"
I meant it’s up there with my all time favourite Brighton chants/songs and I know a lot of people that would say the same.

What’s yours?

As a bit of a song nerd I’m slightly surprised that some are unfamiliar with the original version of this song.

Whatever anyone’s opinion of it is it’s stood the test of time as it was regularly sung at The Goldstone since the 70s, although bizarrely it was “Alan Mullery’s Aces” despite it being the incorrect number of syllables to fit.

Yes it was sung regularly and was very popular - the extra syllables posed no problem😊
