Moronic Jamie Redknapp saying that 'defenders have got to think about this this year. They've got to get them right.' HE DID. HE GOT THE BALL.

How the f*** is that not overturned? VAR said it wasn't a clear deliberate touch of the ball. WTAF. It's called a tackle. Beggars belief. VAR is not the problem it is the people that are running it and whining managers who will now moan again because they will want things overturned after previously complaining that too many were.

That was an easy overturn.

Yep, as soon as I saw the touch on the ball I thought that will get overturned, especially as he got the ball before touching Soucek

This whole thing makes VAR decisions even more subjective because one VAR official like in our game today over turns a decision and this one allows a clearly wrong decision.

Haven't seen this particular incident but the argument sounds similar to the one on our match thread.

PGMOL have made it clear this week they aim to reduce VAR intervention, which it seems everybody wants. As soon as they do, people complain that VAR is not intervening enough. They can't win. Based on what they've been saying, we were fortunate ours was overturned.

There's a drive (which will probably last about a fortnight) to go with the ref unless it's an absolute, indisputable, shocking howler. I'm quite glad Sky are respecting that stance for now. It'll be interesting to see whether MOTD do. It'd do the game a favour if TV resisted the temptation to micro-analyse every decision as that's one reason we've ended up where we are.

He clearly got the ball before any touch on the player, it’s a clear and obvious error.

But that ‘drive’ will get rid of no issues because we will just have the same arguments every week over whether something is a ‘clear enough’ error to be changed by VAR

We will. It's kind of us as fans then, isn't it? If we accepted that refs sometimes get things wrong and people will have different opinions on subjective calls, we could mostly enjoy the flowing game in the way that we pretty much did for more than a century.

They've made a massive rod for their own back there. That penalty is not subjective so should be overturned. Idiots.

I mean, they did. They could both have gone off, or both got yellows. The fact that Brereton-Diaz pretended to be hurt is what made the decision for the ref.

As for Matty Cash, I have a quite irrational dislike for him on the basis that he has terrible hair, is basically a Temu Jack Grealish, plays for Villa and is a grown man who calls himself "Matty" therefore for those reasons, it's a clear penalty for me.

What was incredible in that game was sections of the Newcastle crowd booing (mixed race, braided hair, clean shaven) Samuel Edozie because they thought it was the (white, greasy long straight hair and a beard) Brereton-Diaz. I mean, I know some of them sit about 400m from the pitch at St James's Park, but really?

Glad it's not just me. They have quite a few really obnoxious players in that team. Cash, McGinn, Lucas Digne, Emi Martinez just for starters. Martinez was up to his usual time wasting, injury-faking antics in that game and Digne spent the whole game whining like a spoilt child.

I’ve despised him since he joined Villa. Based on:

- a cocky little cnt at Amex games. Has a huge touch of the Jay Racist about him. Very interested in his own hair-do. Lies about injuries on repeat.
- watched a few TV non-Albion games where his snide challenges have eliminated gifted opponents from games
