I love to hear about peoples individual principles such as they won’t buy a fake because of what it funds and/or won’t buy a genuine one due to the exploitation of low paid workers etc.

I was very principled once, however we are now in a world where basically every time we spend a quid it can be traced somewhere down the line to something/someone unsavoury be it far east criminal gangs, the Tory party, The Israeli government or complete bell ends like Elon Musk.

Paul Heaton, very much always on the ball for me once sung “Apathy is happy that it won without a fight” sadly I don’t seem to have any fight anymore.

Perhaps this shows why Brighton don't make their shirts available to other retailers (assuming it is in their power to decide). £21 per shirt sold through the club store Vs £5 per shirt sold by another retailer is a big difference, plus marketing costs are likely fixed so the more shirts they sell the higher their profit per shirt.

£21 per shirt is actually a bit higher than I thought it would be, certainly in percentage terms. Roughly 1/3 of the sticker price seems like a good return for the club.

I'm just glad there's so much noise being made about this whole topic. The DH shirts are exposing just how disgustingly expensive replica shirts are. They are worse quality if you care about the details but it's negligible and they're getting better and better.

I would love to see the industry as a whole make kids shirts much cheaper even if that meant increasing the cost of the adults ones, so be it.

also, lol as if there are fake Sheffield Wednesday shirts being made in China.

While I agree about making kids shirts cheap it's too late for me because my son is bloody massive. He's only just 9 and I'm already paying Vat on shoes.

I’ve always been against the idea of fake shirts, but now DFP Jr is 6 and very much into his football I’m finding myself baulking at the thought of spending £55 on a shirt that is only current for 12 months. Last year I went for the away shirt as it was good for two seasons, but they’ve changed that for the new away strip. I just can’t justify £55 for a shirt.

Remember when the shirts were for two seasons? For parents, at least it made the cost of buying a shirt more worthwhile (you’ll grow into it). I think it is only Brentford in the top flight who still do this.

If these shirts make the club so little money and with the club supposedly looking at environmental/ corporate social responsibility stuff, maybe they should reconsider the annual change. We know they won’t but…

Total greed from manufacturers and clubs, pushing the average supporter to spend 20 quid on a chinese website for a pretty much like-for-like product.

Every professional club could sell adult shirts at a flat 30.00, and kids at 20.00.
"Should I spend 20.00 on DH gate and hope for the best, or an extra tenner at the club store and get the real thing?"
They'd sell so many more shirts and gain so much more promotion and 'free' marketing.

Enabling a parent and child to suit-up for the season for a total of 50.00 (not considering shorts for the kid), would be fantastic, and very doable for many families once a year.

PL clubs are ripping off their fans. That includes BHA. Simple as that. My local non league club sells its adult replica shirts at 40 quid. The equivalent at Brighton is 65 quid.

Last year's away kit is now this year's third kit. It is good for two seasons.
