Approx 1.3 million miles without a road accident. I think I should be O/K.

Not necessarily!!:D I thought I was a fairly good driver but the other day I drove straight across a mini roundabout without noticing it!! Maybe a refresher needed for me I fear!!

I took mine in 1972 so I guess I could do with a refresher course.

Been driving for 17 years.

Not a chance I would pass my test now !!!

Too many bad habits. Road rage, cutting other drivers up, Anticipating traffic lights changing etc.

At least I am being honest !!!

I would fail, and I think I am an OK driver. Its things like not feeding the wheel through your hands, keeping your hands on the wheel at all times unless specifically doing something like changing gear, doing up your seatbelt before you have even started the engine...

There are loads of little things that all add up, before you know it you've failed. Doesn't mean you are a bad driver at all, or even have bad habits.

I hope so!! Im starting an advanced/defensive driving course (military) in a few weeks.I passed my driving test with 0 YES '0' minors and have since done HGV and off road driving corses.

I'll probably go and have a crash now tomorrow morning!!

Good for you Doug. You must be one of the few professional drivers who keep a proper distance between theirs and the vehicle in front.

Speaking of driving lessons I've just been in to Google. I have found the hilarious script for the Bob Newhart driving instructor piece. Pissed myself laughing.

Boast away, Doug, I hope you are right. I just remember that tale of the pilot who had thousands of flying hours to his credit and he flew into a mountain. So be careful on them there roads and watch out for mountains!!

That's why I always sit at the rear of a plane when I'm going abroad.

Have you ever heard of a plane reversing in to a mountain?

Probably, although the only reason I passed this time around is that the test centre needs to get rid of its backlog so is passing *anyone* who can aim a car somewhat in the right direction and not crash.
