Just had this e-mail:

"I'm contacting you from the National Football Museum and am hoping you may be able to help me with my enquiry. We have a match worn no.3 shirt from the cup final and I was wondering if you knew which player wore that shirt and whether they wore it for both the final and replay. "

Any idea???

according to my programme ..

Steve Gatting was No.3 in the FINAL
(Pearce was substitute)

However, in the REPLAY programme, it says that both Gatting AND Pearce started in the FINAL with Ryan coming on as substitute

No numbers are given, but PEARCE is No.3 in the list (Gatting is No.6)

The line-up for the Replay shows Gatting AGAIN as No.3 with Ryan as substitute. Pearce is not listed because of the return of Foster.

Clear as mud ???

Ridiculous Graham Pearce wore 3 for Brighton and Hove Albion in the 1983 FA Cup Final in both games.

Pearce. Without a shadow of doubt it was Graham Pearce.
