I'm taking part in a Stars in their Eyes event for journalists (not a televised one, I hasten to add). We're being made up by professional make-up people so we can be who we want.

Who should I opt for? I fancy going as Bowie, but as i'm a dark-skinned, overweight welshman, it might be hard to disguise myself as the thin white duke. I then thought of Tom Jones, but I'm not sure that I can handle the pelvis thrusts.

Most of the singers I like are black, so for obvious reasons I can't do those. And most of the white singers I really like (Captain Beefheart, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Jacques Brel) are too obscure.

Any suggestions?

I think that's it Gwylan. All welsh rock stars and famous singers are listed above ( and some of them aren't even welsh) :D

I didn't mention John Cale as I thought he was even more obscure.

Julio Iglesias sounds quite fun to do..don't know how I'd dress up as him though.

Easy, Spanish Tom Jones, black high collared velvet jacket with foppish white shirt open at the neck with gold medallion showing.

No pelvic thrusts just a really smarmy smile. That'll do you

Begin the beguine
