Out of those, I've only seen LOTR ROTK. I'd give that 9 out of 10 (it only loses a mark because of the unnecessarily long, drawn-out ending).

Seabiscuit was quite magnificent. A strong storyline, great acting and superb horse racing scenes. 9 out of 10.

Have seen 3 out of 5 and would rate them in this order:

1. Lost in translation - Bill Murray's best performance since Groundhog Day

2. LOTR ROTK

3. Seabiscuit

Cold Mountain was much better than I expected. Has it not been nominated?

Lost in Translation my fave, would like a quirky, non-mainstream film to do it.

Master and Commander was an entertaining enough two hours, but not really Oscar-winning.

But nothing is going to stop the LOTR bandwagon, must be odds-on to win this by a mile. Can't see anything else happening.

Lost In Translation should win it. Top film but i think Lord of the Rings will take the award with Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson taking the actors awards.

If you think the end of the film is long and drawn out you should try reading the book!!

It does deserve best film though - to be honest The Two Towers should have won it last year as well - It may have deviated from the plot in several places, but that was to make it sit comfortably in a cinema context, and a fine job too.

Only seen two of those. There were some amazing performances in Mystic River, not least Sean Penn and Tim Robbins. I'd like to see it win something. LOTR is not really my thing, but it was an incredible feat of film-making. I don't think Seabiscuit and Master and Commander seem like Best Pictures, so LOTR or Lost in Translation for me.

Agree with Beeneys Gloves. City of God was class but they won't nominate a foreign language film for best film. Out of the nominees Lost In Translation should win it but it is going to be Lord Of The Rings.
