What would actually happen if the offside rule was scrapped.

Has it ever been tried in a game?

What was the outcome?

I've been told that it would ruin the game, but surely if it was the same for both sides it would in fact open the game up, reduce stoppages and make for more exciting football.

Anyone got any "expert" opinions?

Not Luton! Thank God
The game would be very defensive, as teams would have to defend a lot deeper to stop strikers getting one on ones. It would make for a much more defensive game, which would be crap.

Strikers like Michael Owen would never leave the opponants six yard box.
