What Are The Benefits To Playing A Centre Back In Centre Midfield

There must be some benefit to it, as Micky has done it all season.

We have had Livermore, Fraser, Savage, Johnson, Thornton, Jarrett, Birchall, Loft in the squad this season, all centre midfielders, yet all have them have played alongside Adam's Virgo or El Abd.

Is there some kind of bye-law that means we are not allowed to play two centre midfielders in central midfield? Or are we contracted to have at least 3 centre backs on the pitch at all times? It makes no sense.

Even with the amount of centre backs on the pitch, we still leak goal after goal, game after game

It ensures we don't let many goals in as we have an extra layer of defensive protection.... oh, hang on

Not forgetting Elphick's propensity for wandering several miles from the goal he's supposedly a defender of.

It's a tactic that has failed miserably, and our league position proves it.

4-3-3 didn't work, and the way it was played was just another version of the same lump-it-forward style that hasn't been working either.

Leicester, he changed it and had Johnson and Thornton and I think similar to Millwall......yes agree El Abd is not a midfielder, everytime he got the ball he slowed it down and played in back or square...boring, but along with Virgo they are the 'lovechilds' of Adams and he will play them every week, no matter what logic and opinions we all have, it does not work, pure and simple.
