West Stand Arch Watch - Final piece arrives in Sussex

After CC2 spotted The East Stand Arch on a lorry on the A1 a few months back, I kept my eyes open on my way down from Lincoln today.

But then on the A23 at Handcross, there it was.

Now I don't normally do stills (as you can see by the ridiculous size of these pics - sorry, can anyone resize them?) but here are a few snaps of the final part of the West Stand Arch, now in Sussex and almost "home".

And the most amazing thing is it smells really strongly of new paint. Honestly. You'd think after a few hours on the truck it would have lost that.

The poor driver, is going to sit in his cab until 6 a.m. before setting off for the final leg of his journey. Reception committee anyone?

Those are indeed very large pictures, but thank you just the same, it is reassuring to know that another piece of that humungously large jigsaw is almost home.

Given that the driver is sat there all on his lonesome until 6am, wouldn't it be a wonderful gesture if someone who maybe lives near to Handcross could take him a flask of coffee and a bite to eat...he is after all carrying out serious work on behalf of the Albion...they could get to check the steelwork our at the same time.

...... and take some sensible sized pictures at the same time.

I did thank him for his important work.

I've always wondered what truck drivers get up to, during all those lonely nights in the back of their cabs. Given the advent of the internet, and judging by the display racks at your average motorway service station, they must be the world's only remaining purchasers of, er, gentlemens' magazines.

Thus excuse me if I DON'T go knocking on the chap's cab door late at night, cup of tea or otherwise :lolol:

Given the epic proportions of those snaps I reckon those dents are only the size of stratches on your finger nails, I wouldn't worry.

I've spent a few nights parked there. Just a short stroll up the hill to the pub.

Instead of sitting there all night, couldn't unhitch the cab and pop up to Heathrow to pick Wardy up
