That day actually changed my opinion of him quite a lot. He was stuck with the Wendy tag, and by not getting stuck in much you can never tell how much it matters to them, but that post-match interview said it all to me. Plenty of players are quite happy after a game when they've scored, regardless of the result, but Dean was so gutted about losing that he actually forgot he'd scored.

He was on the pitch at the end. I remember thinking he didn't look that gutted when we lost. Then he f***ed off to West Ham anyway.

He was superb for us that season, no game more so than the replay against Liverpool. I still think we should have beaten them.
