trouble with seagullsworld

A lil' question!! I used to subscribe to seagullsworld; however when it came round to renew my subscription I decided not to bother. Upon looking through my recent bank statement, it appears that the company that run the site have taken it upon themselves to take the money anyway and as it was originally taken as a card payment the bank reckon there's owt they can do about it and that it'll be very difficult to stop.
Has anyone else had this happen? Any advice?

Did you write to your bank and ask them to cancel the Direct Debit BEFORE it was taken out ? If you did then it's a fault of your bank, if not tough luck although you could try telling the company you want your money back.

Report your card as lost. Bank issues new one and puts stop on all payments on old card.

If you still have problems after those steps, then next stop threaten small claims court. Works wonders

I have given up on Seagulls world and have asked for a refund...so far no joy.

It is truly shite and I usually miss every other game (Including the historic win on Saturday!)

Emailing Perform will stop future payments being deducted - but they may not refund payments since deducted.

Thanks gents, I thought that the direct debit claim would work but unfortunately I made the payment on me card, which is where the problem appears to lie. I'll persue the other contacts. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind but the site offers very little these days.

Did you "not bother" to cancel the subscription online? I believe it is recurring.
