Broken rail at Balcombe is causing the London - Brighton problems, Ashford - Hastings line has been closed for tunnel work for 1 month already with 1 left.
Advice is to avoid the Brighton Mainline.

Due to emergency engineering works at Balcombe tunnel, services on the Brighton mainline are experiencing severe disruption. Replacement buses will shortly be available between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges as we are only able to operate a very limited train service between these points at the moment.

there was a signal problem just before 3 bridges this moring which delayed the 6.13 from haywards heath, then a gatwick express broke down at selhurst which compounded the misery , they then terminated it at east croydon, oh the joys of commuting
When was the last day there WASN'T something wrong on Southern Trains?

I heard a vicious rumour that FCC are going to be taking over ALL services on the Brighton - London mainline, I really hope this isn't true.
Oddly enough, on my route home the FCC part is usually the most reliable, then the Southern bit is the pain in the arse.
In either case though, I do wonder how either company can justify the constant fare rises for a poor service. I guess they know that they have us commuters essentially over a barrel.

How does that work, then. What about the South Coast to London line. There is no way Southern will only run soth coast, then we need to change at Brighton to come up to town.
