Ok there are a few threads with favourite films at the mo. I love all genres of film and would find it very difficult to name just 3, so to seperate the genres, what are your top 3 war films? By the way Band Of Brothers isn't a film, fantastic television, but not cinema. Mine are

1 - Zulu, have always loved that film, very stirring stuff.
2 - Where Eagles Dare, ok, fictional I think but still a very good film, with a few twists in it the first time you see it.
3 - Battle Of Britain, excellent film, and would advise anyone to view the documnetries on the DVD special edition

Top gun is my fav film of all time

also one of mine, just dont think it falls properly into the War film category as they were in a war scenario for the last 20mins of the film..hardly worth it!

And possibly Babe. At least I think that must count as a war film - the only time I watched it it made me so angry I wanted to go out and invade Poland straight afterwards.

Depending on whether or not you like fiction / non fiction it's really a case of personal taste. Now I have nearly 100 on DVD / tape. Personally:

Where Eagles dare (easily the best but totally fiction)
Band of Brothers - OK not a war film more of a war documentary / series.
Dunkirk - making something positive out of a negative and suitably led by the all time great Sir John Mills!

A ripping yarn which my dad used to love ripping apart for it's historical inaccuracies - "Those buses weren't in service in the WWII era, that helicopter wasn't invented until the late 1950s, the women's make-up is more 1960s Twiggy than the 1940s"
