Tommy Elphick Hands in Transfer Request

Mendoza

NSC's Most Stalked
Brighton have confirmed they have turned down a transfer request from centre-back Tommy Elphick.

Colin Hawkins and Joel Lynch have been preferred so far this season at centre half for the Seagulls Football League Trophy Campaign.

Manager Micky Adams told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "He's a bit frustrated - maybe that's a little bit of immaturity but it's his prerogative.

He added: "The Albion fans can be rest assured we don't want him to leave and we will do our best to keep him."

Elphick has been an ever present this year and was in the squad for last weekend's game with Leyton Orient, the same day Mark McGhee's Motherwell won away at Hibernian with a goal for Sutton in the 79th minute, but was left out of the starting 11 for the win at Northampton having put in his transfer request the night of the game.

Elphick is said to be fuming after being left out and having to miss a massive 90 minutes of Cup football, and dropped as club vice captain, despite being last seasons Player of the Season and making his debut under Mark McGhee, when the loveable Scot saved them from Championship relegation.

With 1000 fans watching Joel Lynch's amazing performance by listening to a radio link on Seagulls World, and giving him a score of 9 out of 10, on message board North Stand Chat, Elphick sees no way of regaining his place back for Saturdays visit of relegated Scunthorpe United, and duly handed in his transfer request.

Joel Lynch has had a remarkable turn around from being the clubs most hated player, to the next Bobby Moore in the space of 3 hours, will be looking to cement his place in the team at the club he has loved since childhood and never wanted to leave.

Elphick was unavailable for comment, but his agent, former Albion player, Peter Smith stated it was nothing to do with the two Withdean bore draws where Elphick was criticised for not being able to trap a football, or only having the ability to play 75 yard aerial passes.

Tommy, a life long Havant & Waterlooville fan, could be set to join older brother Gary, and last season's defensive mentor Guy Butters after Sheik Loadsa Moolar-Habib of Brunei took over the club and invested £32833billion into the Hampshire outfit, making them the new richest club in the world.

The deal would be a loan deal starting on September 8th after the summer 2008 transfer window ended in style and controversy on Monday night.

Elphick needs to get his head down and start FIGHTNIG for his place back, just like Joel has. This club has nurtured him through the ranks, it defies belief that he could slap in a transfer request off the back of being dropped for a JPT game. Absolute disgrace, he should be ASHAMED of himself.

I don't want players with his attitude at the club.
