Kind of feel for the hammers here been reading today.

Orient are now saying they want to build a 15k Stadium on the Olympic site, and then dropping there court case against West Ham, but there argument has always been that West Ham moving to the ground would take away there fan base, now they actually want to move closer to West Ham. ???

And Spurs have been moaning over public funding to West Ham, yet are trying to negotiate public funding for a new build in North London.

Kind of feels like to me a bit of a witch hunt against West Ham, as Spurs and Orient have realised in the long wrong they might benefit from it.

I swear spurs had / have plans for a new stadium anyways i saw it on the site of who designed ours, as for orient, why would you knock down a brand new stadium to build yet another one :S

This is what Spurs are proposing, knocking the olympic stadium down to build the design above. Which is apparently why West Ham were given the Stadium as they are keeping it but reducing numbers of seats.

Thats wrong thats the original design that was planned to be build in northlondon that got permission but couldn't get the funding, yet they spent about over 100mill on players sense then lol

The whole thing is a farce.

Unsurprisingly Hearn has finally revealed his cards - that he wants a new stadium for Orient paid for with public money.

Meanwhile Spurs (whose plan for the stadium was frankly laughable) are still trying to leverage money from Haringey council, ironic after their complaints about the West Ham bid.

On the whole issue of public funding - the whole thing revolves around public funding. Okay so West Ham have to pay a 'market rate' rent, but there's absolutely no money in it for the government (who really should have worked out sensible plans for the stadium from the off) who have paid for the construction.

The feather in the cap, of course, is that the vast majority of West Ham fans don't want anything to do with a stadium that's going to be too large for them and have a crap atmosphere.

Wasn't the rumour that Orient just wanted to get financial compensation from the team moving into the Olympic stadium, do a deal to acquire the temporary Olympic hockey stadium, and then use parts of this structure in a move out to Harlow anyway?

Not sure that it was. The infrastructure to cope with large numbers of people is now in place, but the stadium is simply not suited to football. Spurs were going to turn it into a football stadium and use some of the Olympic Stadium pieces to rebuilt Crystal Palace into a venue more suited to top class athletics. Instead, West Ham are going to be playing at a stadium not suited to football just so that we can host a World Athletics Championship once in the next 50 years.

As for Orient, MEH. They should have complained about this YEARS ago, and not just used it to leverage a free stadium from the public purse as a bribe for not making a fuss about West Ham moving in.

Surely the best option all round would be for West Ham to use the Olympic Stadium for 2-3 years whilst The Boleyn ground is flattened and redeveloped. Surely there must be some insane Arab/Russian willing to throw money at this.
