Thick lines between threads

For the last few days random thick dark lines are appearing between threads rather than the usual thin ones. Is it just me or is there a significance to them

It may have started after I went to IE8.

I haven't even got black lines (IE8), so it must be you

I've had an issue recently where icons don't show up and instead their tool-tip text shows up instead. Hovering the mouse over the text makes the icon appear. Weird.

Got them above Easy10 and Biggles at the moment so maybe it is
