Perhaps he'll over compensate in our favour so as not to show bias to the home team? (says she hopefully, knowing there isn't a chance of that)

I think its a GOOD thing, so long as everyone makes clear to him that we KNOW where he's from. He'll feel that his every decision is being scrutinised for home bias, and hopefully will end up erring the other way.

:fingerscrossed:

Someone in Carlisle tells me: "He's from Barrow. They're not Cumbrians."

(Barrow has of course only been in Cumbria since 1974 -- Mike Pike was probably born in what was Lancashire)

When we played Reading, away, in April 2003, the substitute refereee, who took over from the first referee in the second half, was a bloke from Worthing.

Unless he is a Carlisle fan, coming from the local area means it's likely that he will be biased against Carlisle.

In the same way that a Ref from Sussex who wasn't a Brighton fan is likely to be anti-Brighton
