Morning everyone.
It's the World Cup which has clearly captured the imagination of just about everyone, judging by the RECORD number of entrants. So as to avoid any ambiguity, this is the official RULES thread.
* Where there is ambiguity, you may vote for your preference. So for example, if you vote for fruit crumble then you are voting for whatever is your favourite, be it blackberry, apple or rhubarb
* When voting, please assume that your choice of accompanyments is available.
So using the above example, that could mean when you see "fruit crumble", you could be voting for your own personal preference of, say, rhubarb crumble with custard
* Fanboys (or "anti"s) of any particular dessert will be encouraged to post pics in the group stage threads. This is for two reasons: a) to avoid claims of bias from the event organiser (me) and b) because I can't be arsed to do it myself.
There will be 40 entrants, split into 8 groups of 5, top two qualifying. Here are 39 of the runners and riders:
Knickerbocker Glory
Fruit based Cheesecake
Fruit Crumble
Banoffee pie
Eton Mess
Mango Mess (Eton's ugly stepchild)
Key Lime Pie
Spotted Dick
Sussex pond pudding
Chocolate Tart

The 40th spot is still up for grabs. The first of these 5 puddings to receive 3 nominations gets that coveted 40th spot in the competition proper:
Pear & Choc Pie/Flan
Pancakes
Yoghurt
creme caramel
Jam Roly Poly
The draw will be conducted when I get time this morning.
Gentlemen and ladies, start your engines...
