Went to the Judo at the ExCel yesterday. Great atmosphere, especially when either Colin Oates (GBR) or Shavdatuashvili (Georgia) took to the floor. There was a large and noisy Georgian contingent in the crowd! It was a great day, loved it.

Im in one of for photos ! Im very lucky to be working at Excel and as we're now up and running Im spending days watching Judo, Boxing, Fencing and Weightlifting. And am just off now to watch wore Judo !

Yes, final at 16.00 I think.

Amazing emotion at the end. Gemma was amazing. She gave absolutely everything, when it came down to it she won by sheer courage and heart.

What are they trying to do?

You have to throw your opponent on their back (hence why they all look like they are belly flopping). The throw must start in the yellow area. If you do this you get 1 point. Alternatively you can win by Ippon (TKO). There are couple of versions of Ippon, including a "BIG" throw, where the opponent must come completely off the mat, and land on their back, or via submissions, where you make your opponent tap out using an arm lock, etc.

(I read about this 30 minutes ago. I am no expert.)
