No, I'm not talking about Daniel Shittu last week.
It seems like there are quite a few movie buffs on NSC, being as the film threads always do well. So lets have our own NSC Oscar for the best individual acting performance in a film. The film itself might be cack, but there might be a stand-out performance by one particular actor which saves the whole film. Or the film might be great anyway, and the actors performance merely adds to it. Examples:

Jack Nicholson as Nathan Jessop, A Few Good Men
Daniel Day-Lewis as Butcher Bill, Gangs of New York
Russell Crowe as Maximus, Gladiator
Johnny Depp as Cap'n Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbean
Al Pacino as Satan, Devils Advocate

Those are a few of my faves. Reply with as many nominations as you like, then later on, I'll collate all the nominations into a top 4 and post the top 4 nominee's into a seperate poll for everyone to vote on, to find out who wins the Official NSC Best Acting Performance award. I'll leave this thread running over the weekend before I collate it and do the poll on Monday.

And before you ask, yes, I do have too much time on my hands.

Henry Fonda - 12 Angry Men
Jonny Depp - Donnie Brasco
John Cusack - Grosse Point Blank
Morgan Freeman - Shawshank Redemption

Arnold Scharzenegger - Kindergarten Cop. Only joking.

Dustin - Rain Man - Papillon - Graduate etc. Great adoptions of character.

Daniel day Lewis - Unbearable Lightness - My Left Foot - Favourite Laundrette - Last of Mohicans (but certainly NOT gangs of new yeuck)

Peter O'Toole - Stunt Man - Laurence of Arabia etc. It's his delivery, marvelous.

Rob De Niro - versatile, but has plumped for acting in absolute rubbish too many times.

Joaquin Phoenix - Better than Crowe in Gladiator, only redeeming factor in Quills (awful film) and should be in more.

Tom Cruise - better actor than credited for.

Donald Sutherland - ditto
Lee Remick - a talented beauty, died way too young.

Al Pacino - Dog Day Afternoon
Robert De Niro - Taxi Driver
Jack Nicholson - Batman
Joe Pesci - Goodfellas
Joel Grey - Cabaret
Brian Glover/David Bradley - Kes
Bill Murray - Tootsie (if only for the way he delivers the pay-off line: "Now THAT is one nutty hospital!"
Steve Martin - Little Shop Of Horrors (like Jack Nicholson in Batman, stupidly hammy - but stupidly enjoyable)

De Niro - Godfather part II
Adrian Brody - The Pianist
Ed Norton - American History X
Tim Robbins & Morgan Freeman - Shawshank Redemption
Jack Nicholson - Batman
Most of cast - City of God (particuarly as most are genuine street kids)

If I had more time I'm sure I could use up all the NSC Bandwith. One thing for sure, Ben Affleck wouldn't be on there!
