The conundrum:

I was using a 2Gb USB stick and inadvertently deleted a Document Folder with correspondence in it and essentially a couple of letters that I had composed this morning (at great cost to my mental state both due to content and time taken) and was about to print out.

I was trying to delete a file in the same folder as the document folder. There was no option such as 'do you really want to delete this 'Folder and all its contents?' it just went. When I realised what had happened I had a moment of panic and then realised that if I look in the Recycle Bin of my Compaq laptop the Folder and all its contents' should be in there.

It wasn't - panic sets in again. Can anyone shed any light on this. Files located on a USB stick as opposed to Files located on the hard drive. Are they treated differently by the Computer System - which is Windows 7 btw.

Ideas gratefully accepted.
