The Heaven Paradox

Can Heaven exist in any Reality? Unless we can describe such a thing as a life without compromise, then we cannot describe Heaven.

Is Heaven a set ideal, created by God with set parameters or is Heaven a personal place where I am in total control?

If Heaven is set to God's ideal then we cannot agree that such a place will be without compromise since God will still want His ego stroked just like He did when he was bossing people around in the deserts whilst sending floods, frogs, flies and fires. We would probably have to worship and praise Him, just like the song says because, well...God is a bit like that. You read the Bible? I have. God is a total egomaniac! Nope, that's not for me. I'll take my own personal Heaven thank you, Mr God. I want a Heaven without all of that religous branding and baggage. I'm off somewhere warmer, somewhere with a little more colour. Fire up the private jet and let's see what's behind door number 2!

Great! This is much more like it. This is my Heaven. My mucky, pornographic, hi-def wide screen, comfort food is health food, paradise island, theme parked, happy, delerious, crunchy, popcorn of a Heaven with more bouncing, boobied, booty, bootifull, bodied babes than you can shake yer' poker at. Plus, said poker has grown an extra four inches...I now have sixteen in total! Amazing...untill you stop and think about it for a while. That theme park I mentioned. Who's in charge of the running and management of it? It can't be real people since nobody would want to clean my puke from the roller coaster in Heaven. No one would apply for that job! Perhaps God has made human shaped robots who look, move, smell (in a good way,) talk and behave just like real people do, only these guys want nothing more than to serve me? Maybe, but these people will certainly lack the ability to defy my expectations, unless God has also made these "people" the greatest artists who have ever "lived?"

My Heaven also has another problem. My family. Now I'm sure you love your family. I do too, very much. There's nothing my mother could ever do that would make me want to send her into Hell forever. I am sure you feel the same about your own family (does that make us mpre moral than God?) However, I am not sure that I would want to spend forever with them either. Harsh? Allow me to explain! Let's suppose that the "people problem" of Heaven, (who's ganno cook your steak in the Restaurant of Heaven? Gordon Ramsey? Good luck, he'll be busy in his own version of Heaven, thank you very much!) is to have your Heaven populated by human shaped beings. As far as you're concerned, these "people" are as real as you require them to be in every way. Most importantly, they do whatever you ask of them, no matter how perverted, unreasonable or illegal your request happens to be. You want it? Whatever you want, Vic. YOU GOT IT!

That's the problem! Look, I am a moral person. I do not hurt people and I have absolutely no desire to cause distress to the people of Heaven. But...I do have the same dark thoughts and desires that we all have. We all look into the darkness from time to time. Everyone. With a whole pile of people ready to do my bidding it's inconcievable that I'll resist certain taboo activites forever. An eternity is a long time and I'll not behave myself for all of it. After some time with free reign and no diseases I'll not be able to look anyone I had known on Earth in the face! Maybe I'll be able to leave my own version of Heaven for a while and visit a friend's version but, if they're even approaching normal, they'll probably be reluctant to let me see the carnage they've been inflicting on the poor people of their own Heaven! As such, they'll probably not open the door when I come knocking. I know I wouldn't.

I would not want to spend eternity without seeing my family from time to time but the nature of absolute freedom in a Heaven that mimcs Earth in so many ways could serve as a recipe for disaster if you allow others in to see how you've been enjoying it. There's no such thing as a life without compromise.

I believe that when we die it's either absolute nothingness or, if we do go on, it'll be more of the same in another universe.
