ITV have today confirmed a new deal to show the Championship highlights. It will be shown on Sunday mornings at 1030 & be presented by Matt Smith with expert analysis from Adny townshend & co.

Im sure that they are so pleased that they lost the premiership & instead of going to Old trafford & highbury they have The Fortress that is withdean & millmoor

Will Andy townsend bring his tactics truck???:lolol:

Excellent news, finally us exiles will be able to see a bit more of Brighton on telly. Better than that nationwide round up which only ever seemed to be on for 8 minutes at 3.15 am on a wednesday.

It isn't excellent news. It's just replacing Soccer Sunday but less Albion coverage. We're unlikely to be the main game very often!

It would be better if it was longer. 45 mins is far to short for extended highlights, comment and highlights of the rest.

45 mins for 2 main games, highlights of all the others, plus a couple of highlights from the 2 lower divisions, take into account advert breaks and you are not left with much decent action. You'll be lucky just to see the Albion goals once they have shown Leicester & W Ham every week.

It always bemused and annoyed me that Nationwide League Extra was shown around 1am, christ it's the national sport in this country and the majority of this country support a team outside of the top flite. Surely such a show could have competed with just about any programme in a primetime slot any day of the week in terms of viewing figures.

It's a shame that Soccer Sunday is gone, Albion were the featured team, what, every 5-6 weeks? It will be a lot less on this new programme I reckon.

OK, but Meridian was available on Sky from anywhere in Britain, non-pay channel.

well the official site reports that there will be a regional programme "reguarly" on a thursday evening, (however evening is viewed in the broadest sense of the word ie: 2.20am with a special piece about fred dineage and his classic collection of pompeyfc mugs + exclusive highlights of pompey reserves against Barnet)

who knows.........???

Do the league clubs see any extra revenue from this deal or is it just if they are the 'featured' match?
