Tabacs in France - Will these stop smoking in these

Do you think the French Goverment will stop people smoking in Tabacs? or is it already going through.

I have a lot of respect for the French.

No one tells them what to do*. No smoking? They would just give a gallic shrug and carry on puffing away. Fair play to them!

Smoking in public places is already banned (From 1 Feb) but there is an exception for cafes, tabacs etc until 1 Jan 2008

Having spent a lot of time recently in Paris, I can report that the French are taking absolutely NO NOTICE of the "Ban" everyone still sparks up despite the no smoking signs and the supposed 50 Euro fine for offenders.

In my travels I can also reveal that the Nordic bans are 100% observed, as is the Irish one, I reckon the UK one will work.

Good on the frogs though, no way they will do what they are told.

I regularly eat in French restaurants where they pay absolutely no heed to no smoking legislation and just have smoking and non smoking areas. The posher the restaurant the more likely they are to be non smoking though. I have a feeling that July 1 is also the cut off date in France as well or so some of the restaurant owners tell me. Maybe they'll put it back again..

I notice the Spanish take bugger all heed either.

The only people I hear moaning are the Brits and no-one gives a shit about them on the continent or pays any heed.
