I dunno who half those people are so how can they be sports personality of the year?!?

I'm guessing the ones I don't know are Olympians? If so then it's a sad state of affairs when we are having to dip into minority sports to find the best sports person in the country.

Adlington. Genuinely a class above, destroying a world record in the process.

Hoy won more golds, but that was far easier on a bike and Hamilton (as much as I supported him) had a large element of luck a couple of times.

Would agree with that.

Lewis will have his year, and a more comfortable World Championship will cement his win.

Rebecca this year. :)

Hamilton had a massice advabtage over most of the field as due to his car.

Why does their being in a minority sport make it sad?

Because no one had ever heard of any of them apart from the couple of weeks the olympics was on, no one has heard of them since and after tonight no one will here of them again until the next olympics should they be good/young enough to compete again.

And lets face it the sports in question aren't really that good either. Anyone on this board could win an olympic medal should they have the inclination to practice enough. Swimming, running, cycling you learn them as a child, hardly pushing the boundaries of sporting excellence is it.

Any one of the top six would probably have won last year I reckon. Bad luck to hit the peak of your sport at the same time as everyone else does!!
