Might cause a temporary spike but until first time buyers can afford to get on the ladder (i.e. property prices come down even more) it surely can't be sustained?

Not good news though as increased sales means prices will rise again!

Need it to stay quiet and prices to continue to drop to let first time buyers have a chance.

First time buyers will only have a chance when mortgage lenders come back in with some decent FTB products - they are non-existent at the moment.

It doesn't mention any price rises, simply people getting back into the market on the back on a price drop of up to 20% and historically low interest rates. I'd rather the price drop was softened a little, and we need as many good news stories as possible at the moment...

Although we haven't reached the price minumum, there's no reason why we can't have passed the lowest point in terms of activity.
