Sky 'f***ing' broadband........

Anyone managed to get it? i applied for it over a month ago, got a standard emailed response saying 'call you soon' and they havent, and their phones are constantly engaged.

Bought a wireless laptop purely on the basis of getting free sky broadband and the free router thing- ****s.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Its a SHAMBLES by all accounts.

Happened to mention it to the bloke that came to fix my Sky+ box last week and he told us that they are massively oversubscribed, cocked up by telling people they could have it who cant and have no firm date for sending out modems which are not even in the UK yet.

By all accounts they panicked to get in ahead of BT and are now looking a bit silly.

Not available for at least 12 months in my area apparently. Although if I pay £40 plus £17.99 per moth I can have it immediately.

Like you say, too good to be true.

The engineer is coming to install mine on 12th September.

Went for the £10 per month option as work and porn will be high on my list of priorities when I get it, hopefully the two will not become interlinked in any way.

Have actually been quite impressed by the speed of it all.

I applied for it online, put my details in, and was told the home phone number (landline) I quoted wasn't recognised. No explanation other than that, just tough shit. I suppose its cos I'm on an NTL line ?

*shrugs*

On a train...
I've registered on an Easynet (Kemp Town) enabled exchange. Easynet is owned by Sky, and the network they will be using.

But as yet, I've not heard a thing.

My mate lives in Haywards Heath (I'm assuming that's HH). He's getting Sky Broadband on Monday.

I have registered my interest. I'm going to wait to see how he gets on first before I commit.

I used to swear by Sky, but I had to cancel with them because they kept taking too much money out of my account and their customer service has been absolutely shocking recently.

They have got too big and can't handle the amount of new customers they want to attract - your better off paying a little extra and going for one of the smaller Broadband companies. You'll get better surfing and download speeds. Although avoid Carphone Warehouse they are meant to be dreadful!!!!

I'd recommend Tiscali.

I live in Eastbounre.

I think I applied about four weeks ago then got an email about 10 days ago giving me a unique number to quote so I could get the ball rolling.

Point to point, I suppose the whole thing will have taken about five weeks but as I haven't had broadband since moving into my own place I've not been able to miss what I've not had so it hasn't been a problem.

You must remember something with Sky, is that the big cash cow was TV Football, on which the empire is built - next year they lose a proportion of this and their income will no doubt suffer.

Analysts predict their charges will go through the roof if they start to lose income at a large rate, therefore development costs investment suffer.

I would be very cautius about buying sky packages at the moment.
