I've had an idea on how to run a simulation of a decathlon using dice and Excel. It's all my own work which means the rules should be simpler but it won't be as accurate. All you need to do is to sign up on this thread to say you want in along with your preferred strongest and weakest events.
To do this, you need to allocate marks to 5 events. Your strongest event should be given 3, your second strongest 2 and your third strongest 1. Your weakest event should get -2 and your second weakest -1. This will leave 5 events that you are average at. This should help increase interest.
As an example, I would say I want in and give my events as follows :-
100m 3
Pole Vault 2
Long Jump 1
400m -1
1500m -2
Here are the events for those that don't know.
100m
Long jump
Shot put
High jump
400 m
110m hurdles
Discus throw
Pole vault
Javelin
1500m
I will run the game tomorrow, provided I can get the rules and scoring together by then. I will use official decathlon scoring tables so it will be interesting to see how accurate it turns out to be.
So, whose in? You don't need any interaction after giving me your scores but it would be nice if you were around tomorrow to see the results come in.
